Helen Holland
1922-2008

A gathering to happily remember the life of Helen “Tib” Holland will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 5 at the Weed Heights Recreation Hall in Yerington, Nev. Family and friends are invited to sign the online guest book at www.FRFH.net.
Born in San Diego on Feb. 2, 1922, the daughter of Walter and Mildred Tibbals, Helen died Thursday evening, March 20, 2008 at her home in Yerington with her son and daughter at her side. She was 86.
Helen grew up in Bishop. She loved the outdoors and could hike, ski, hunt and fish with the best of them. She loved her family and friends and did much to help anyone who needed her. She had many dear friends that meant a great deal to her and who cared for her during these later years. Special appreciation to Joella Tiscareno for her unselfish love and care.
“Helen is now ‘Dancing with the Stars’ and entertaining the Angels,” family said.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Margaret McCloud.
She is survived by her son Angus “Pat” McDonald; daughter, Colleen Drury; sister, Barbara Beal; brothers, Joe and Don Tibbals; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. All loved her dearly and will miss her.
Donations may be made in Helen’s name to one’s favorite charity or in the form of a tree or flower planted in her remembrance.

Seymour ‘Sy’ Ossofsky
1927-2008

Friends and family are saying goodbye to Bishop resident and Sierra mountaineer Seymour “Sy” Ossofsky.
Born November 16, 1927 in New York City, the son of the late Lilly and David Ossofsky, Sy died on March 21, 2008. He was 80.
He was raised in the Bronx, New York City’s northernmost borough. He served with the Navy during World War II as a radio operator of a PBM/Y squadron in the Pacific. After the war he attended Brooklyn Polytechnic where he received a degree in Electrical Engineering. Sy worked for ITT and then for Hughes Aircraft company. He retired in 1970 and moved to Bishop with his family to be near the mountains where he spent most of his free time.
Sy was an avid mountaineer and made numerous first ascents and passed his love of the mountains on to his sons.
He is survived by his sons, William Ossofsky, Michael Ossofsky and adopted son, Harry Peterson; and daughters-in-law, Rochelle Hair, Amy Hsu Ossofsky and Saundra Peterson.
