Register Staff 3-6-2008 The theater company that brought sold-out performances of beloved classics like “Annie,” “The Sound of Music” and “Bugsy Malone” to the local stage is now inviting the public to “Catch the Vision” for advancing performing arts in the Eastern Sierra.
According to Playhouse 395 spokespersons, there is no better way to help secure the future of local theater than by attending Playhouse’s third annual Gala Event, to be held Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at the Home Economics Building at the Tri-County Fairgrounds in Bishop. “This year’s Gala is even bigger and better than past events, including, once again, the wonderful music of the Bishop Big Band for your listening and dancing enjoyment,” said Jeff Pratt, one of the founders of Playhouse 395. “A wonderful dinner catered by Whiskey Creek will give you energy to tackle the unbelievable treasures to be found in the auctions.” Silent auction items include 72 tremendous finds including an original watercolor painting by Carol Taylor, beauty baskets and gorgeous jewelery. The 17 live auction items include dinner once a month for a year at various valley restaurants, Millpond Music Festival and snowboarding packages, and an autographed book of photographs by Dave McCoy – a collector’s item for sure. Attendees will also have the opportunity to sign up as a Patron of the Playhouse and enjoy the benefits the title includes. “Come out and have a wonderful evening while ‘Catching the Vision’ and showing your support for performing arts in the Eastern Sierra,” Pratt said. Only 176 tickets will be sold for this event so those interested in attending are urged to buy theirs in advance either online at www.playhouse395.com or by phone, 920-9100. Any unsold tickets will be available at the door. Playhouse 395 is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization; all donations are tax deductible. |
