“Not a lot of towns this size still have their own bowling alley,” said Tom Flesia, owner of Back Ally Bowling.

Tom and Jackie Flesia are back at the helm of Back Alley after a three-year absence and the Bishop couple have big plans for operations at the Bishop bowling alley.
The Flesias sold the bowling alley back in 2004, but just recently purchased it back. With some great new ideas in store, local residents are encouraged to check out the new operations.
To start off, and get back in the swing of things, the Flesias looked at the interior of the bowling alley and planned some aesthetic and functional improvements.
The first move the owners made was to get some new carpet for the dining area and video game areas of the bowling alley. The new carpet was installed last Thursday.
Next, the owners wanted to spruce up the bowling alley’s restaurant, “The 11th Lane.”
Here, Tom said he and Jackie came up with a new, expanded menu that includes dinner items every night of the week, expanding on the alley’s traditional “Prime Rib Fridays.”
“Now you can get fried chicken, steak and fish every night of the week at a reasonable price,” Tom said.
But the Flesias have more plans in store for the alley. As part of a new and enhanced advertising effort, the couple purchased what Tom has described as “probably the world’s largest bowling pin.”
The pin is mounted on a pickup truck that advertises the bowling alley.
“It’s for advertising purposes because we’re back here without a sign” on Main Street, Tom said.
In total, the pin stands about 11 feet tall in the back of the truck. To get that project under way, Tom said he enlisted the aid of John at John’s Mufflers, who mounted the pin.
Tom invited residents to head over to Back Alley Bowling to see the new improvements and grab a bite to eat off the new, expanded menu.
And according to the owners, now is the perfect time to pick up bowling.
“Summer leagues are coming up – they’re fun leagues and they’re not real serious. Beginners are welcome,” he said.
