Charges of infidelity, an alcohol-fueled dispute and ultimately a violent confrontation have resulted in a former Bishop resident evading attempted-murder charges and another man lucky to be alive.

The Mammoth Lakes Police Department has issued a nationwide arrest warrant for 20-year-old Cecilio Laguna Carrillo, who allegedly stabbed his brother-in-law multiple times on July 27 during a “domestic
dispute.”
According to MLPD DetectiveAndy Lehr, Carrillo fled Mammoth Lakes after the incident and could possibly be hiding out in the Southwest.

“He high-tailed it, I thought at first to Mexico,” Lehr said. However, information received later in the investigation points to Phoenix as a more likely location for Carrillo, a native of Mexico born in Guanajuato.
Carrillo and the victim, along with their wives (who are sisters), had recently relocated to Mammoth Lakes from Bishop.
According to Lehr, the July 27 stabbing was the result of a dispute stemming from either Carrillo or the victim “cheating with one of the sisters.”
Possibly due to the subjects’ intoxication – “Alcohol was definitely a factor,” Lehr said – the dispute escalated to the point that Carrillo allegedly went to the victim’s home on Joaquin Street and stabbed him four times.
The victim suffered a punctured heart, Lehr reported, along with additional, fairly minor wounds. The victim was transported to Mammoth Hospital and flown to Washoe Medical Center in Reno for further evaluation. He has since been released from the hospital, said Lehr.
As for Carrillo, he has since been added to the “Wanted” lists of law enforcement agencies across the country.
A flyer was released by MLPD yesterday describing Carrillo and warning that he should be “considered armed and dangerous.”
Carrillo is 5’6” tall, weighs about 160 lbs., has brown eyes, black hair and dark complexion and may or may not have a shaved head.
Anyone with information about this whereabouts is asked to call Det. Andy Lehr at MLPD at (760) 934-2011, ext. 17.
