By Kellie Caparula Sports Staff 10-18-2008 The Bishop tennis team stays perfect after blowing out Kern Valley, 16-2. The Broncos’ singles were strong, winning all of their games, while doubles also played well and won seven out of their nine matches. The doubles featured a rematch of the CIF playoffs as the No. 1 Bishop pair of Katie Campbell and Ana Cummings took on the No. 1 Kern Valley duo. Campbell and Cummings, who won last year, went for a repeat and beat the Broncs’ pair 6-4.
The Broncos No. 1 pair won their other two matchups and only gave up five points. Bishop’s other pair of Britney Erwin and Katie Hudson won two of their three matches. The No. 3 doubles for the Broncos were played by Shayla Tillotson and Lenai Munch, who lost the first game to Kern Valley’s No. 1. Then Tillotson and Josie Moynahan won the second game. Winning the third match for the Broncos was Moynahan and Maddy Talmage. The singles were not only undeafeated for Bishop but gave up only one point. Playing singles for Bishop were senior Ali Ostergard who played No. 1 for the team, Shayna Citrenbaum at No. 2 and Kendra Beach and Heather McLaughlin both at the No. 3 spot. The Broncos will put their undeafeated record on the line Tuesday as they take on Mammoth at home. Play will start at 2 p.m.
