The seniors celebrate after their win. Bishop was able to take control of the game and dominate. Photo by Ben Lieberman By Ben Lieberman Sports Staff 10-16-2008 In Bishop’s annual Powder Puff football game, the seniors faced off against the juniors. This crazy game wasn’t ever close as the Seniors obtained a rally early and never looked back, winning 24-0. “It felt amazing, go Seniors,” said senior QB Katie Campbell about winning. Senior wide receiver Mikaela Griffiths’ shared similar thoughts, “We dominated, it felt awesome to win.” The first points of the game came from a 40-yard rush for a TD by running back Stephanie O’Quinn.
A few more points would come in the first quarter from a safety caused by the superb senior defense. The next points would come from an outstanding 75-yard run by Campbell. The first half ended with the Seniors up 18-0. Kaleigh McClinton would score the lone touchdown in the second half, proving that both teams had stellar defenses. The players were less concerned with themselves and were very grateful to their coaches for helping them. Coach Lee Tatum felt the same about this team, “These were the easiest girls I’ve ever coached in my six years of Powder Puff football. We had a lot of fun at practices and I’m proud of the seniors and their commitment,” Tatum said. However, the main attraction wasn’t the game but the halftime show as some of the (male) varsity football players dressed up as cheerleaders. Some Powder Puff players thought that the cheerleaders were hilarious and the best dancers ever. Campbell summed them up in one word: “HOT!”
