By Kellie Caparula Sports Staff 10-14-2008 The Broncos fell hard in their last game before league to Paraclete, losing 45-7. Bishop came out flat and never got on track, said Bishop head coach Bill Egan. “It was a complete dismemberment by Paraclete, they dominated,” Egan said. The Broncos had three good days of practice during the week, but the last two days before the game Bishop wasn’t focused and prepared for the game, something that Egan takes responsibility for. The Spirits jumped on the Broncos early and would never look back. Paraclete held Bishop scoreless until the last few minutes of the game, when quarterback Drew Blumberg ran the ball in for a touchdown.
Blumberg was one of the three players that Egan was pleased with. He completed 12 of 23 pass attempts for 162 yards and had two carries for 39 yards. Tim Berrey and Blake Hubbard also came out and played hard. Defensive back Berrey had eight tackles and had two carries for 39 yards, and nose guard Hubbard had seven tackles. The rest of the team will have to get back on track for the Broncos to reach their goal of winning league. “It will be up to the boys to regroup after this shellacking,” Egan said. The team will talk about what the can do to regain their focus this week in practice, Egan said. “I think physically we’re not that bad, it’s mental, I don’t know if we can change that” he said. With the loss the Broncos fall to 1-4. Next week the Broncos will have a chance to prove themselves, playing Rosamond, which is 1-5, for homecoming and their first league game.
