Bishop businesses vandalized E-mail

Several Bishop businesses were vandalized earlier this week by someone reportedly armed with several rocks and lots of aggression.
Some time Labor Day evening or early the next morning, vandals threw rocks at McDonald’s and Starbucks on Main Street, and busted a cluster of windows near Mission Linen Supply on West Line Street.
The Bishop Police Department reported Tuesday morning that the first call came in around 4:30 a.m. from a citizen getting his or her mail that one of the Post Office windows was busted. Numerous reports of broken or damaged windows throughout the area followed.
One of the big five-foot by three-foot windows in front of the Post Office had a hole through the center of it the size of a football.
Mission Linen had a similar hole in one of its front windows. Ted Ohama of Mission Linen said Bishop Police had taken the rock from inside as evidence, but he said another employee found another rock with fresh scuff marks on it next door near the windows of Julie’s Pet Grooming.

Defacing continued at Rite-Way Pool and Spa Equipment, south of Mission Linen, where rocks were thrown but failed to do much damage. A rock hit one of the glass front doors but struck too close to the pane and just left a mark. The other rock for Rite-Way was evidently aimed at the next set of window doors but bounced off the panes, just scratching the paint.
Turner Propane was not so lucky. The glass door had to be replaced.
Ryan Miller of Bishop Glass, conveniently located across the street, had already replaced Turner’s window and was working on the Post Office mid-Tuesday morning.
Miller estimated the damages on Line Street to be around $400.
Workers early Tuesday morning found the east-facing, glass door at McDonald’s shattered with a hole the size of a softball through it, manager Sherie Romaro said.
Susan Wilson, McDonald’s employee, said five rocks were found inside the foyer.
Representatives from Starbucks said there was damage done to the windows of the shop, but were unable to give any details.
The public is encouraged to report any information relating to these or any crimes to the Bishop Police Department at 873-5866 or  anonymously to the Secret Witness Program at 873-7209.
