It was a perfect day for a slow-pitch softball tournament on May 4 at the Millpond Recreation Area.
There were some good teams and some great competition with a total of nine teams, which included six Bishop teams, one Big Pine team and two from Ridgecrest.
The games went all day long and were followed by the playoffs between the top four teams. Two teams from Ridgecrest and two teams from Bishop made the cut.

Bishop’s Just For Fun played an undefeated Ridgecrest team, TNT, beating them with an exciting finish. On the other field, Balls Deep of Bishop played The Old Timers from Ridgecrest. Bishop’s Balls Deep beat the Old Timers, leaving the two Bishop teams to fight it out for the championship.
Balls Deep of Bishop walked away with the top spot after the dust had settled. The team was composed of many veteran players, put together by player-coach Eloy Montoya.
Along with their first place trophy they received an extra large pizza donated by the Pizza Factory. The winning coach chose the All Tournament Player and MVP for the tournament. All-Tournament went to Fonzi McCloud and Tournament MVP  was Willis Dondero.
Special thanks to those who helped make the tournament possible, including the local businesses that donated gift certificates and prizes for the umpires, as well as the teams and individuals that won the tournament.
Those local businesses are Pizza Factory, Our Water Works, Bar-B-Q Bill’s and La Casita.
More special thanks go out to Kenny Tiedemann, Cam Matthewson, Dennis Wiley, Joe Diangelo, Earlene Brown and crew, Inyo County and, lastly, the two umpires that helped out on one of the fields all day long, William and Brian.
The winning team included left fielder Gabe Montoya, right center Eric Stone, right fielder Peter Charley, second baseman Joseph Montoya, pitcher Arnold Dondero, shortstop Eloy Montoya, third baseman Aaron Dondero, first baseman Willis Dondero, left center Cam Mathewson, catcher Fonzi McCloud and catcher Ray Denver.
