Gertrude ‘Trudy’ Viola Frederickson 1919-2008
Private memorial services will be held for 28-year Bishop resident Gertrude “Trudy” Viola Frederickson. Born in Stockholm, Sweden on Jan. 4, 1919, Trudy died at Northern Inyo Hospital in Bishop on May 24, 2008. She was 89. As a young girl, Trudy came to America and was raised on a farm in Coopersville, Mich. After moving to Chicago, Ill., she met and married John, her wonderful husband of 65 years. Following the war, John and Trudy settled in Venice, Calif. where they raised their two sons. In 1973 they moved to June Lake and began a new adventure as co-owners of the June Lake Marina with their son, John, and his wife, Michelle. In 1980 Trudy and John retired and moved to Bishop, which Trudy fondly called home until her death. Trudy loved being with her family, animals and many dear friends. She spent many wonderful hours working in her garden, gazing out at the Sierra Nevada and watching the birds that were drawn to her yard. All who knew Trudy will miss and remember her sweet disposition, cheerful nature, kind heart and caring spirit. Trudy was preceded in death by her husband, John. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Michelle Frederickson of June Lake; son, Steve Frederickson of Bishop; granddaughter and her husband, Heather and Jeff Topp; great-granddaughter, Audrey Topp; nephew and niece, David and Donna Vazquez; sister-in-law, Harriet Tobey and her family; brother-in-law, Richard Frederickson; and many great friends. Donations in the name of Trudy Frederickson should be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Eric Scott Jahn 1971-2008
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 29 at the Neighborhood Church at 315 E. South St. in Bishop for Eric Scott Jahn. Born to Dennis and Bonnie Jahn on March 3, 1971 in Whittier, Eric died May 15, 2008 in Boise, Idaho. He was 37. Eric moved to Bishop in 1977 at the age of 6 and graduated from Bishop High School in 1989. He worked in Mission Viejo for a couple years, returning to work in Bishop at the Creekside Inn. He moved to Boise 12 years ago and worked in construction. Eric will be remembered for his generosity in helping others, cooking for friends and family, and his love for Bishop and the outdoors. He will be deeply loved and missed by his family and friends. Eric is survived by his beloved 7 year old son, Trystan Jahn of Boise; parents, Dennis and Bonnie Jahn of Bishop; brother, Chris Jahn; nephew, Cayben of Idaho Falls, Idaho; sister, Julie Jahn; nieces, Kaitlyn and Mercedes; nephews, Dominic and Dawson, of Bishop; numerous uncles and aunts; and 10 cousins of the Los Angeles area. Gary Rueben Rossi 1942-2008
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 31 at the Big Pine Methodist Church for 62-year Owens Valley resident Gary Rueben Rossi. Born in San Bernardino on Jan. 19, 1942, Gary died May 23, 2008 at Northern Inyo Hospital in Bishop. He was 66. Gary was in the ranching business for more than 35 years. He loved caring for and helping his friends and family. His hobbies included cooking and gardening. Gary graduated from Big Pine High School in 1955, then attended Utah State College and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He married Andrita Wescott on Dec. 16, 1967 in Swall Meadows. He served in the U.S. Army and on the Big Pine School Board. He was also president of the Inyo County Cattlemen’s Association. He was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Andy Rossi. Gary is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Chance and Holly; son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Tami; grandchildren, Jazmin, Logan, Cierra, Tara, MaClain and Layton; sisters and brother-in-law, Karen Bradley and Ruby and Myron Cinque; brother and sister-in-law, Burl and Barbara Rossi; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bishop FFA, Inyo County Catttlemen’s Association or the charity of one’s choice. |
