Miss Bishop Paiute Tribe 2009-10 Serena West is preparing to crown her successor this week as the Tribe holds its annual pageant in conjunction with California Indian Days Celebration events, including a parade and pow wow, scheduled to begin Friday, Sept. 25.
The Miss Bishop Paiute Tribe Pageant will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22 at Bishop Tribe’s Community Center on Barlow Lane. Doors will open at 5:30 and family and guests are encouraged to arrive early as seating is limited. West will be relinquishing her title to one of two worthy contestants: Tssiuvvu Dewey and Katie Manuelito. Both young ladies will be presenting themselves to be judged on their poise, talent/skill presentation, regalia and speech. Also that same evening, the new Bishop Indian Headstart Princess will be crowned during the intermission of the pageant.
