At her request, no services were held for longtime Bishop resident Dorothy Beryle (Feige) Carr.
She died peacefully on Aug. 17, 2010 at the Bishop home of her beloved niece, Beryl Ann Rea, at the age of 95.
Dorothy Beryle Carr was born in Bishop on Aug. 20, 1914 to Leora and Joseph Feige, a two-time mayor of Bishop. Upon graduation from Bishop High School, she attended Redlands University and the University of Southern California. She was a music teacher in Southern California for more than 40 years. After living with her sister in Monterey, she returned to Bishop in 2008.
In addition to her passion for music, Dorothy was an avid reader and, in her words, an ageless free spirit.
She was preceded in death by husbands William A. Cook and J. Clifford Carr; her son, William Douglas Cook; daughter, Johanna Cook; sister, Eloyse Florell; and brother-in-law, David Florell.
She is survived by her nieces, Beryl Rea and Carol Fallon; grandnephews, Justin and Jeremy Rea; grandnieces Leanna and Laurel Albrecht; two great-grandnephews; and stepdaughters, Mary K. Samuelson and Alice Carr, as well as many friends.
Extended family members include Charles Fallon; Jim Heyne; Melissa and Cameron Briggs, son William; Carrie and Jack Bailey, son Ryan and daughter Holly.
Contributions may be made in her memory to the Cook Memorial Fund, School of Theology, 1325 North College Avenue, Claremont, CA 91711.
