Tony Stark embarks on the “hero’s quest” in the new Marvel Studios film “Iron Man.” The film shot major scenes here in Inyo County, the largest film company to be here in many years. Before the film opens, we can get glimpses of Stark from the movie trailer and the novelization by Peter David, based on the screenplay by Mark Fergus, Hawk Ostby, Art Marcum and Matt Holloway.

Art-lovers are in for an extra special treat next weekend when Carol Taylor and Jill Kinmont Boothe host their 10th Annual Spring Art Show and Sale. The popular local artists will be joined on April 26 by fellow watercolorist Mickey Short, who will also be displaying her original works as well as offering prints and notecards for sale.

Event helps keep creativity alive |

As children and their parents entered the Bishop Activity Center on Saturday, they couldn’t believe their eyes. More than 20 different art projects, live music and a presentation by a children’s dance ensemble were available for free as a way to help local children “Explore the Arts.”
