The Big Pine Volunteer Fire Department puts on a rousing Fourth of July celebration for the community, from dawn to early evening starting with a 5/10K Run and winding down with a traditional barbecue feast in Mendenhall Park. But, it takes a village, as they say, to really celebrate as Marilyn Mann (above) demonstrates. Mann and her cohorts, Sandy Lund and Charlotte VanderHurst, tour the community, atop a fire engine, equipped with a bullhorn to announce the barbecue and encourage everyone to drop by Mendenhall Park for the barbecue, exuding sheer joy on the way.
