Even Inyo Countyâs Grand Jury, which is charged with investigating âwillful or corrupt misconduct in office,â couldnât get an answer out of District Attorney Art Maillet as to why his office released inappropriate information about his political opponent back in 2010.
According to the 2011-12 Grand Jury Final Report, Maillet declined to answer any questions on the matter, citing private personnel matters in his public office.
July 30 will be Dr. Carl Lindâs last day at Bishop Veterinary Hospital.

In response to citizen concerns, the 2011-12 Inyo County Grand Jury took a closer look at the process for appointing or electing citizen representation to the more than 30 Special Districts in Inyo County.
In its Final Report, the jury offered tips to County Clerk-Recorder Kammi Foote on how to improve the election and appointment process in regards to Special Districts. Replacing Chief Bart Chambers, Paul Melendrez began his new position as the head of the local CalFire division last week.
Melendrez steps into the top post from his position as a battalion chief for the CalFire San Bernardino-Inyo-Mono Unitâs Owens Valley Division.
As division chief, Melendrez oversees more than 200 inmate firefighters at the Owens Valley and Fenner Canyon Conservation camps and dozens of state firefighters.

CASA of the Eastern Sierra, a non-profit collaboration and partnership between Wild Iris Family Counseling and Crisis Center and the Inyo and Mono County Superior Courts, is seeking dedicated volunteers to advocate on behalf of foster children trying to navigate the often confusing and frightening dependency court system.
According to program leaders, âCASA volunteers are the bridge between the reality of a foster care or placement existence and a brighter future.â
