The Lone Pine Golden Eagles Volleyball beat the Vasquez Mustangs for the second time this season and did it the hard way on the road.
The Mustangs were ranked ninth in their CIF division, but fell 3-0 to the Eagles in Lone Pine earlier this month, setting up a real battle in Acton Thursday afternoon. Time for a little Vasquez payback.
âWe knew we would have a fight on our hands after our three-game sweep,â said coach Mel Joseph.

Lady Broncos Basketball Mandatory Parents Meeting
There will be a mandatory meeting for parents of this yearâs Bishop Lady Broncos basketball players. The meeting will be held Monday, Oct. 28, 6:30 p.m. at the Bishop High School library.

Mark those calendars for Saturday, Nov. 9 for the Eastern Sierra Girls Softballâs Bingo Night, starting at 5:30 p.m. at Barlow Gym in Bishop.
Lady Broncos now 4-0 in HDL with win over Roadrunners
The Bishop Lady Broncos volleyball team stayed on track Tuesday on the road with a 3-1 win over the Rosamond Lady Roadrunners.
Bishop dropped the first game 13-25, but came back with a vengeance, winning games two and three by a nose at 25-23 and 26-24, then romping through the winning game four at 25-17.
The Broncos stay perfect in High Desert League at 4-0, 17-5 overall.
Next up is a home game Tuesday, Oct. 29 with a re-match against the Cal City Ravens. The junior varsity game starts at 4 p.m., with varsity following around 5 p.m.

some football blanks
The Bishop Junior Varsity football squad werenât scheduled to take the field this Friday; Frazier has no JV team. The Lone Pine Golden Eagles won by a forfeit to Lee Vining last weekend and were scheduled for a bye this week. So, the two teams will meet at 4 p.m. this Friday at John Schwab field as part of Bishopâs Homecoming extravaganza.
The Conway Ranch Fish-Out Derby
The Bishop Broncos enjoyed a much-needed football victory against their opponent, the Ravens, beneath the windless evening sky in Cal City.
The first half kick off put the Broncos deep in their own territory at the 9-yard line. The team advanced the ball a short distance up field before the Ravens took over on Bishopâs 28 off an errant snap on the punt.
The Big Pine Lady Warriors hosted Lee Vining Thursday and sent the Tigersâ volleyball squad back up the hill with a 3-0 sweep.
In game one Melissa Barlow executed a kill, putting Sienna Gutierrez at the service line. The score was 3-2 and Gutierrez went on a 6-point run.
Lee Vining couldnât close the gap after Gutierrezâs serve, only getting a couple of point breaks from Mackenzie Kendall and Marie Lightner. Big Pineâs Anah-Kee Mason and Gena Lewis had multi-point runs at the line. Mason ran up 5 service points and Lewis added 6. The final score in game one: 25-11
The Bishop Lady Broncos tennis team claimed the High Desert League championship with a 13-5 win over the Kern Valley Broncs Thursday.
In singlesâ action, Laura Rossy won 6-0, 6-1, with one 4-6 loss. Gabby Morales swept at 6-3, 6-0, 6-0.
âKerisa (Isaac) had a great match against Kernâs number three seed,â said coach Patty Cummings. Isaac won, 6-3, but lost the next two 0-6, 1-6.

Although the Bishop Lady Broncos and Kern Valley Lady Broncs are equal in name, the Broncosâ volleyball squad proved to be the superior team as they scored a sweeping victory on home court Thursday afternoon.
