Christian Hernandez, representing the Bishop soccer team in the All-Star CIF senior game, scored the only goal for the Div. 6/7 squad as they took on the Div. 5 All Stars.
Hernandezâs finish was a beautifully placed header from the penalty spot over the keeper late in the first half. The Div. 5 team ended up winning 3-1 but Hernandez played well in his last game as a high school student.
Lemus, Tweedy
Named All-CIF
Big Pine Warrior Marissa Lemus and Lone Pine Golden Eagle Nicole Tweedy were named All-CIF in girls basketball in their respective divisions.

The Bishop High track teams got a split decision at their first dual meet at California City, March 10. The girls pulled off a decisive 61-33 win over 10 events. The Cal City Ravensâ boys team snuck past the Broncos, winning the meet 68-59.
The Lady Broncos recorded a win in each of their events.
The Broncos took firsts in the 400-meter, 300-meter and 100-meter hurdles, long jump and shot put.

Bishopâs snow sport teams came back from the state finals at Northstar with South Division II championship banners.
The California Nevada Interscholastic Ski and Snowboard Federation brought together 32 teams to the Lake Tahoe ski area, March 7-11.
Bishop was on top of league standings at the end of the four-meet season at Mammoth Mountain; the Division II championships were the icing on that cake.
Four Broncos snowboarders competed in the menâs championship slalom and giant slalom races.

Soccer has been described in terms of elegance and beauty, a chess game in constant motion. Soccer is primarily a playersâ game rather than a coachesâ game. It requires an almost intuitive sense of team â no huddles, no plays called in by a coach, Itâs all up to the players.
Maybe it was that characteristic of the game that helped foster this yearâs junior varsity girls soccer teamâs spirit. The JV Lady Broncos, all 28 of them, attracted the attention of opposing teams, coaches and tournament directors during the season for their enthusiasm and spirit.

The Lone Pine Golden Eagles ended last weekendâs baseball tournament at Yerington, Nev. with a split decision: two wins on Friday and two losses to Wittle High, the 2010 Nevada state champions on Saturday.
Greg Green was the winning pitcher in the Eaglesâ 8-2 victory over Smith Valley, striking out six.
On the hitting side, Michael Palsrok went 2 for 2 with 3 runs; Michael Cappello was 2 for 2 with a triple, 3 runs and 3 RBI. Umberto Romero was also perfect at the plate with 3 for 3.

The conditions were cold and windy for Wednesdayâs league golf match.
Despite the conditions, Lone Pineâs Casey Sullivan came in with the low score, a 73 on the par 71 Bishop Country Club course.
The Bishop Broncos topped the seven-team match with a 389, 64 strokes below second place Frazier Mountain.
Bronco Brendon Shibley placed second with a 76; Ryan Church, third with a 77; Daniel Johnson, fourth, 78; Ben Ono and Joey Medora, tied for fifth with 79; Matt Ono finished 15th with a 91.
Lone Pineâs Neil Bhakta placed eighth, shooting an 83.

The Bishop High School and Barlow gymnasiums were the sites of basketball games, every hour on the hour, last weekend. The event: the Bishop Indian Sports Clubâs 41st All Indian Menâs and Womenâs Basketball Tour-nament, with teams from all over the West in attendance.
The tourney started Friday evening and ended with championship games Sunday afternoon.
Katelyn Lent was crowned tournament queen at the Friday night opener.

Lady Broncos Boarders sweep
Bishop Highâs womenâs team swept the slalom races down an icy âFascinationâ last Friday in the third divisional snowboard race with five of the six Lady Broncos finishing in the top 10.
In the morning, Jocelyn Crockett placed third overall; Angela Bell, sixth; Kelsey Nikolaus, seventh; Haley Pennington, eighth; Rebecca Borin, 10th and Brooke Ross, 11th.
The Lady Broncos did equally well in the afternoon race with Nikolaus finishing in second place, Crockett in fifth, Bell in seventh, Pennington in eighth, Borin in 10th and Ross in 12th place.

The Bishop Broncos are playing tough and strong, but still fell to the Frazier Mountain Falcons, 65-76, Tuesday night.
The Falconsâ biggest weapons were Andrew Penner, who couldnât miss from beyond the 3-point line and, Nick Pilgram who leads the High Desert League in scoring with over 21 points a game.
âWe just couldnât stop Pilgram,â said coach Jon Michener. âWe were scoring, but the Falcons owned the boards.â
Bishop pulled out to an early 9-2 lead off field goals from Cy Scott, Cody Rigney and a 3-pointer from Anthony Tucker.
