Lake Sabrina Boat Landing
What a difference a week can make. Highs at the lake in the mid-70s with a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoons sure beats 36 with a wind chill of 16.
The highs in the 70s means the flatlands are in the 90s to the triple digits. You all now know where to come to get cooled off.

JV Lady Broncos end season on top of HDL

May 16, 2012

As the dust settles on regular league play, the Bishop Lady Broncos JV softball team stands alone at the top of the High Desert League standings with a 9-1-0 record, 16-6-1 overall.
The single league loss was to Kern Valley, by 1 run.
The final win over Desert, 8-3 on May 10, marked the end of the JV team’s season.
“Desert played great defense,” said coach Patty Cummings, “leaving us scoreless at the bottom of the first, so the girls knew they needed to be aggressive at the plate, and that’s what they did.”

Revenge is sweet for Lone Pine Eagles

May 16, 2012

Last fall, the Hi-Lo League football champion Lone Pine Eagles were punted out of the playoffs by a huge, brutal Excelsior Education Center team.
It took a few months, but the Golden Eagles struck back with a 4-2 win over the Excelsior Eagles in the Wild Card bracket of the CIF baseball playoffs.
“We were solid defensively,” said coach Chris Riesen. “It was one of our better games. We put everything together and Michael (Cappello) threw well.”
Lone Pine travels to Pasadena today for a match-up with the Poly Pasadena Panthers, the 2011 Division 6 champions.

May 16, 2012

Bishop’s Lady Broncos beat the Nuview Bridge Knights, 9-8, in the final inning of the Division 6 CIF playoffs Wild Card round Tuesday.

The Knights took an early 4-1 lead in the first inning. At the end of four innings, the Knights were ahead 2-8, but the Broncos kicked their game into high gear.
“We had a big 6-hit inning,” said coach Stacy Van Nest, “then the Knights couldn’t stop our momentum.”
