The Bishop Broncos basketball teams laid waste to the Tonopah Muckers Friday night. The Lady Broncos ran away with a 54-26 win while the Broncos battled to a 61-59 victory.
The first quarter of the Lady Broncos game was close, ending with a 9-4 lead by Bishop. Once the team warmed up, the Broncos hit nearly 50 percent of their second-half shots to pull away from the Muckers.
âIt was another night of unselfish play,â said coach Brian Pennington. âThe ladies dished out 15 assists for the 25 baskets made from the field.â
For the boysâ team, Cy Scott led the scoring effort with 31 points.
The Lone Pine Golden Eagles corralled the Vasquez Mustangs Friday night with a 85-61 win.
The Eagles basketball team is now 2-0 in Desert Mountain League play, hoping to go 3-0 tonight at home against the Mammoth Huskies.
Mike Cappello led the Eagles with 30 points, followed by the Greene brothers, Seth and Brad, with 18 each.
