The Chuckawallees/Bill Eddy Traditional Archery and Unloaded teams rose to the top at Friday eveningâs first round of the City Softball League Coed C division championship tournament.
The teams, ranked in the middle of the six-team division, meet top-ranked CBC Crusaders and I-Hiimu this coming Friday in the semifinals. The title will be determined in the final game at 8 p.m.
Chuckawallees 10, Red Tails 5
The Chuckawallees jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning and never relinquished it.

Just NDNs proved why it sits atop the City of Bishopâs Coed B League standings with an 18-7 win over Bad Company last Thursday.
Bad Company was game, putting up a challenge in the fifth and sixth innings, but fell victim to NDNs lethal bats and impenetrable defense.
NDNs goes into the single-elimination tournament, starting tonight, as the team to beat for the Coed B championship.
Adrian Santana started the scoring drive for Just NDNs in the bottom of the first, with a double and scramble to third on an infield error.

Morgan Deuschle of Bishop won three American Junior Paint Horse Association Youth World Championship titles in Houston, Texas.
Deuschle, riding One Hot Machine, competed in the 2011 Youth World Championship Paint Horse Show, June 24-July 2.
She took the title in Youth Walk-Trot Hunter Under Saddle (ages 5-9). Youth Walk-Trot Hunt Seat Equitation (ages 5-9) and the Youth Walk-Trot Western Horsemanship (ages 5-9).

Tehachapi continued its dominance of the Little League All-Star tournaments with back-to-back wins over the Bishop Juniors.
Bishopâs All-Stars lost by a slim 5-7 margin Friday afternoon.
Tehachapi took an early lead in Saturday morningâs game and never gave it up, taking the tournament with a 1-15 win. Bishopâs bats were active, but couldnât string them together for enough runs to challenge Tehachapi.
Bishopâs fielding looked sharp in the first inning. A rapid-fire throw from pitcher Grayson Hess to first baseman Brad Greene retired Tehachapiâs Zach Wagner.

Memorial One-Pitch Tournament Scheduled for Aug. 13-14
The second annual Jerry Davis Memorial Co-ed One Pitch Softball tourney takes place Aug. 13-14.
Proceeds from the tournament will go to Davisâ three children. Davis passed away January 1, 2010.
Entry fee is $150 and will be collected prior to the first game. The tournament is a round robin, single-elimination event, limited to 16 teams.
Teams interested should contact Willie at (760) 937-2019 by Friday, Aug. 5.

Approaching Charles Brown Auditorium at the Tri-County Fairgrounds, it was hard to tell Bedlam in Bishop was really happening. But the excited yips gave it away.
For the fourth year, the Flyball tournament, hosted by Lickety Splits and X Flyball, was seriously under way.

With a 5-3 win over Bishop Tuesday, the Owens Valley All-Stars stay alive in tournament action, taking on the undefeated Tehachapi team in the championship round.
(The final round was played yesterday afternoon; results will be in Saturdayâs paper.)
Tuesdayâs game was hard fought. The Bishop All-Stars were in it to the end, but fell short of the mark.
âThis win was a big deal for us,â said OV manager Travis Allison. âWe havenât beaten Bishop in years.
âI told the kids to play with heart, to believe in themselves and each other and not give up. The ball will fall where it falls.â

Despite a late-game rally, Just NDNs proved too much for Shirts ân Skirts in Tuesday eveningâs Bishop coed softball game at City Park. The NDNs took out their opponent 11-3.
Both teams were held scoreless through the first inning. NDN Johnny Shoshone hit a 1-RBI single to get things started in the top of the second.
Suma Davis smashed a 2 RBI double into center field in the third. By the end of the inning, the NDNs had extended their lead to 6-0.
Shirts ân Skirts got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third. Bob Bishop hit a sacrifice fly ball to bring Justin Whitman home.
