The University of California Irvine Anteaters men’s soccer team won the Big West Championship tournament Saturday, beating UC Santa Barbara 3-2 in double overtime.
Chino Santana, former Bishop High School soccer player, was a big part of that win, scoring the Anteaters’ first goal in the first half, his fourth of the season.
Santana’s assist in the semifinals helped propel the team into the championship match.
UC Irvine is ranked number 8 in Division 1 men’s soccer. The win gives the Anteaters an automatic berth in the NCAA playoffs.
