Larry âChiefâ Williams
Born Feb. 17, 1946 in Bishop, lifelong Owens Valley resident Larry âChiefâ Williams, passed away peacefully at his home Monday, Nov. 3.
Born Feb. 17, 1946, lifelong Owens Valley resident Larry (Chief) Williams passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, Nov. 3, 2014. He was the eldest son of Wilfred Williams and Lorraine Barlow.
He leaves behind his wife, Debra Williams; sister, Wanda Hodgekinson; daughter, Charmarie Williams; son Wade Williams; brothers-in-law, Rick, Mark and Ron Napoles; grandsons, granddaughters, numerous nieces and nephews.
Esther was born Jan. 10, 1919 in North Dakota and passed away on Oct. 16, 2014 in Menifee.
She is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Gerry Atkinson; two children, Carmen and Lynda; two stepchildren, Vicki and Candi; 14 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Darryl; her grandson, Jeremiah; great-granddaughter, Ivy; and her first husband, Harmon Nelson.
Ruth Emily (Parsons) Newhouse
Ruth Emily (Parsons) Newhouse was born Dec. 22, 1926 in Alhambra to William James Parson, of Canada, and Emily Kitchel McIntire, of Sacramento. Her father worked in the citrus industry and she grew up in Alta Loma and then Hollywood. She graduated from Hollywood High School in 1944. Ruth became a Christian at age 12.
Ruth received her bachelorâs degree in Mathematics from UCLA. She went on to marry Robert James Newhouse on Aug. 12, 1949 and they lived in Glendale and then Bishop for many happy years.
Mary Lynn Seymour
A celebration of life has been announced for Mary Lynn Seymour. Mary Seymour passed away peacefully in her home Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014, surrounded by her family. She was born Sept. 8, 1944 to Mack and Glen Seymour in Southgate and was raised in Lee Vining. Mary graduated from Lee Vining High School where she was crowned Miss Lee Vining. She went on to graduate with an AA Degree from Lassen College and later received her cosmetology license from Prater Way Beauty College in Sparks, Nev.
Gene Clifford Harris
Gene Clifford Harris of Paradise passed away Oct. 21, 2014 at the age of 97. He was born to Elic and Lottie Harris on July 24, 1928 in Runa, W.Va.
Gene served in the U.S. Navy from 1946-52 as a machinist mate. He always said, âI spent the Korean War in the Mediterranean.â
Mary Lynn Seymour

She was born Sept. 8, 1944 to Mack and Glen Seymour in Southgate and was raised in Lee Vining. Mary graduated from Lee Vining High School where she was crowned Miss Mono Lake. She went on to graduate with an AA Degree from Lassen College and later received her cosmetology license from Prater Way Beauty College in Sparks, Nev.
Pauline Homa, our dear mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Oct. 22, 2014, at the Bishop Care Center. She held her daughterâs hand as she graduated into Heaven. She had been at the Care Center briefly, under the loving care of their medical staff.
Pauline was born in Lawrence, Mass., on July 17, 1915, and had five sisters and a brother.
Loraine Vale Warner
Loraine Vale Warner, 89, a resident of Bishop since 1988, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014. She was born in Medford, Mass. Aug. 2, 1925. She was the daughter of Harold and Dorothy Tucker of Belmont, Mass.
Loraine attended Belmont High School and Simmons College in Boston. She formerly lived in Dallas, Texas and Thousand Oaks before moving to Bishop in 1991.
Loraine was active with her husband in sports her entire life, playing golf, snow skiing and racing sailboats. She loved the mountains and outdoor activities.
Julia Ann Bair (Judy Kunow)
Julia Ann Bair (Judy Kunow), 81, a 50-year resident of Bishop, passed away at her home on Oct. 20 with family at her side.
Julia, also known most of her life as Judy Kunow, grew up on an orange grove farm in Whittier. After high school she attended Whittier Junior College for two years.
