Rhonda Kolene Rothchild
Rhonda Kolene Rothchild, born Feb. 11, 1960, lived in Bishop since the 1980s. She died June 22, 2014.
She is survived by her sister, mother and wife, Barbara Briggs.
She was crazy at times, but a good person with an awesome sense of humor.
Frances Rowan passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, July 1, 2014 in Camarillo. She was born Dec. 29, 1925 in Johnson City, Tenn.
She and her husband Kenneth Rowan were married 67 years and lived in Grand Junction, Colo. before moving to Bishop in 1970.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; four children, Janice, Fred, Dan and Don; five grandchildren; and 10 great- grandchildren.
Born April 6, 1950 in Oakland, Dennis Hubartt passed away June 21, 2014 in Carson City.
He was preceded in death by both parents, John and Ruth Hubartt; and his eldest son, John Joseph Hubartt.
Dennis retired from Bishop Elementary School District in September 2004 after serving 25 years in the grounds/maintenance department.
He met his wife Patricia in high school their freshman year. They were married in 1969 and have been married 45 years.
Merwyn âJimâ Paul Merrick Jr.
Merwyn âJimâ Paul Merrick Jr. passed away Thursday, June 12 in his home of 58 years. It was just eight days after his 89th birthday.
He was an only child born June 4, 1925 in Los Angeles, at the Good Samaritan Hospital to Merywn Sr. and Margaret âFernâ Merrick.
Edwin âRockyâ Curtis Rockwell Jr.
Born Sept. 19, 1920 to Edwin âNedâ Curtis Rockwell and Jessie Guild Rockwell at the New York City Hospital. He lived there until the age of 2. The family then moved to Brandon, Vt. where Rocky would learn the joy of hiking, photography, and being a prankster. He spent countless hours in the woods hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter. He would always have a camera or two with him. After graduating from Brandon High School, he attended Kimball Union Academy for a year and then entered the University of Maine to study Forestry.
June A. Sauser
June A. Sauser passed away June 22, 2014 in Mammoth Lakes of natural causes. She was born July 24, 1920 in Burlington, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudy; and brother, Leonard.
Joan Evans passed away on May 30, 2014, two months shy of her 80th birthday. The Lord took her home two weeks after a heart attack and bypass surgery. She spent her last moments at her daughterâs house in Reno, surrounded by her family and friends.
Joan was born on July 25, 1934 to Joseph and Pauline Mack and was married to Bill Evans for 60 years. Bill and Joan have four children, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and were long-time residents of Bishop.
James Harley Eaton
Born Aug. 26, 1962 to Ed & Barbara Eaton. Jim passed away peacefully at home in Lone Pine on June 10, 2014 after a lengthy illness.
Jim had a good heart and was known around Lone Pine for being a kind-hearted soul who was always willing to help out others.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ed, in 2000.
He is survived by his mother, Barbara; sisters, Phyllis Weinberg and Debbie Shafer; his brother, Frank Eaton; numerous nieces and nephews; and his many friends in Lone Pine.
Buna Lurlene Browne Drew
On June 15, 2014, longtime Independence and Owens Valley resident Buna Lurlene Browne Drew passed away. Lurlene was born in Kenton, Tenn. on Aug. 10, 1928.Â She was one of 11 children in the Browne family.Â As a child, Lurlene moved west with her family, eventually settling in the Owens Valley.
Paul Alan Martin
Born April 22, 1929 in St. Louis Park, Minn., Paul Alan Martin, age 85, a resident of Bishop for 48 years passed away on June 10, 2014 at Renown Hospital in Reno.
After growing up in the Minneapolis/St. Paul suburbs, Paul served in the U.S. Army for two years during the Korean conflict in the early 1950âs. Originally stationed near Denver, Colo., his unit was reassigned to the atomic testing being carried out near Mercury, Nev.
