Virginia Lee Perry
Virginia Lee Perry was born in Santa Monica on April 16, 1936. She was the only child of Charles and Alice Perry. She attended school in Santa Monica. At age 19 while visiting her father who lived in Bishop at the time, she fell in love with the Owens Valley and decided to stay and worked as an operator for the phone company. In 1956 she married Robert Shunkwiler and they had two children, Dorothy and Robert.
Lester Robert ‘Les’ Messner
Lester Robert “Les” Messner, 83, passed peacefully away in his Klamath Falls home on Feb. 16, 2012. Les was born May 7, 1928, in Birdsboro, Penn., the youngest of six children of Harry and Martha (Griffith) Messner.
Estella Mae Jones
Estella Mae Jones was born May 19, 1922 and passed away Feb. 13, 2012. Her husband of 60 years, Albert Lee Jones, was by her side. She had been ill for several months.
Besides her husband Al, Estella leaves three children, Carol Law, George Davis and Jeffrey Jones; and one granddaugher, Julie.
Kenneth Martin Sample
Kenneth Martin Sample passed away Feb. 15, 2012, after a courageous five-year struggle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was a true gentleman who touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end.
Kenneth Glenn Partridge
A graveside service will be held at East Line Street Cemetery at 1 p.m. Wednesday for Kenneth Glenn Partridge who passed away Feb. 18, 2012. He was 96.
Kenneth was born Dec. 9, 1915 in Bishop to an Owens Valley pioneering family. His grandparents, Philip and Rhoda Partridge, came on the Slim Princess in 1888 to settle on a ranch eight miles south of Bishop.
Linda J. (Popp) Cranston
Linda J. (Popp) Cranston, born Aug. 8, 1944 passed on Feb. 15, 2012 from complications after surgery.
Linda was a loving mom, sister and grandmother. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and family. She lived in California most of her life and about four years ago moved to New Hampshire to be near her daughter.
Mark A. Senechal
Mark A. Senechal, 46, of Genesee, passed away suddenly Friday, Jan. 27, 2012 in Pullman, Wash.
Mark was born Aug, 7, 1965 in Inglewood, to Jeannine and Leonard Senechal. He attended St. James Catholic School in Torrance until moving with his mother to Bishop in 1980, graduating from Bishop Union High School. Mark began his plastic mold career at Caltron in Bishop and later worked in Carson City, Nev.
Jill Kinmont Boothe
Jill Kinmont Boothe, born Feb. 16, 1936 in North Hollywood, to Bill Kinmont and June Haines Kinmont passed away Feb. 9, 2012 at the age of 75 at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center in Carson City, Nev
Dolores Barbara Haney
Dolores Barbara Haney, known to her friends as “Dee” was born March 1, 1929 to Frank and Beatrice Gagliano in Los Angeles and had one younger brother, Frankie. Their mother died when she was 3 and he was 1.
Thomas (Tom) Joseph Spoonhunter
Thomas (Tom) Joseph Spoonhunter, age 67, passed away Feb. 9, 2012 at his home in Bishop, Calif. due to illness. Thomas was a member of the Northern Arapaho Tribe.
He was born June 24, 1945 in Ft. Washakie, Wyo, on the Windriver Reservation to Isaac and Angela Spoonhunter Andreas. The family moved to Bishop in 1952 where Tom grew up and graduated from Bishop Union High School.
