Michael Dane Armstrong
Michael Armstrong, 47, of Pacifica, passed away peacefully in his sleep from a prolonged illness on Thursday, May 22 at his residential care home in San Jose, Calif.
Michael moved to Bishop as a child with his family in 1975 and attended schools in Bishop and was a graduate of Bishop High School. Michael was on Bishopâs swim team and was an avid skier on the Bishop High School ski team. He choose his profession as a chef and was a wonderful and gifted cook.
Mark Alvin Kiner
Mark Alvin Kiner, age 63, resident of Bishop his entire life, born on Oct. 5, 1950, passed away May 19, 2014 at his home in Bishop.
Mark was a Vietnam veteran and lifetime member and past commander of VFW Post 8988 in Bishop. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved camping, hunting and fishing.
He was a loving husband to his wife, Phyllis; and a loving father to his sons. He was always willing to help people in need, as well as friends and family.
Kathleen âKayâ Otto
Kathleen Otto went home to the Lord on May 18, 2014. Kathleen was born Aug. 10, 1927 in Timmins, Ontario, Canada. She lived and worked in Timmins, Canada as a linotype operator until March of 1965 when she and her family moved to Bishop. Kathleen worked for Chalfant Press in Bishop as a linotype operator for a couple of years. Kathleen was the apartment manager for LeAnn and Gene Rassmussen for about 20 years before retiring and moving to Yerington, Nev. in 2004.
Donald Charles Krause
Donald Charles Krause a longtime resident of Bishop, passed away May 17, 2014, in Thornton, Colo. where he had lived for the past eight years. He was born June 23, 1924, in Detroit, Mich. Donald was a decorated combat veteran, serving with the U.S. Armyâs 36th Infantry Division during World War II. He was a graduate of the University of Michigan and employed with the State of California, Department of Transportation, for 30 years. Donald retired in 1987 out of the Bishop office.
Nichol Lynn Scott
Born Jan. 24, 1980, Nichol Lynn Scott, age 34, passed away April 14, 2014.
She was a beloved daughter, sister and mother and her time was cut short.
Always remembered and never forgotten. XOXO.
Crystal Lynn Davenport
Crystal Lynn Davenport of Bishop passed away May 4, 2014 at Northern Inyo Hospital in Bishop.
Born in Louisville, Ky. on Feb. 17, 1957, she came to Bishop in 1970. She attended Bishop High School and resided in Chalfant Valley for 37 years.
Crystal is survived by her mother, Anna Brennan, two daughters, Amber Davenport and Reanna Davenport; son, Nathan Williams; two sisters, Pamela Davis and Janice Friedline; and two brothers, Greg Davenport and Ray Hailey.
She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Davenport; and her brother, Richard Hailey.
Jamie Marie Johnston (Riggins)
Jamie Marie Johnston (Riggins), age 51, a resident of Bishop her entire life, born Aug. 8, 1962, passed away May 8, 2014 at Southern Inyo Hospital in Lone Pine.
She was a free spirit who lived in the moment and touched the lives of others around her. Jamie was happy in the Valley collecting artifacts and antiques, and swimming with her children and grandchildren. She had a great love of dogs.
Born May 25, 1951 in Montana, 24-year Big Pine resident Gil Brownshields passed away April 26, 2014 in Bishop. He was 62.
Gil is survived by Nodugwa and children and grandchildren, Alex, Hateya, Jordan and Jess Ray.

Carol âJeannieâ Rurup
Memorial services will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 17 for 41-year Bishop resident Carol âJeannieâ Rurup with Rev. Samuel Gullixson officiating.
Born in Seward, Neb. on Oct. 14, 1936, Jeannie passed away peacefully on April 27, 2014 in Bishop â the town she dearly loved â at age 77.
Larry Kent Peckham
Larry passed away unexpectedly in Southern Inyo Hospital on April 29, 2014 due to complications of pneumonia. He lived in Independence for 67 years, moving there with his parents Howard and Evelyn Peckham and his little sister, Janet, when he was 5 years old.
