Larry passed away unexpectedly in Southern Inyo Hospital on April 29, 2014 due to complications of pneumonia. He lived in Independence for 67 years, moving there with his parents Howard and Evelyn Peckham and his little sister, Janet, when he was 5 years old.

Dorothy Jean Cornwell of Independence passed away on May 1, 2014 in Bishop. She was born Aug. 2, 1928 in Inyo County. Dorothy was an active member of the Pioneer Methodist Church in Independence. Dorothy worked for the Justice Court at the courthouse in Independence.

Pete “Buddy” Garner, a barber at the House of Styles for 34 years, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, April 12, 2014. He was born Jan. 14, 1937 in Lone Pine.
Buddy went to Lone Pine High School. He played football and basketball. He loved basketball the most. He grew up in the heart of the Sierra, packing mules with his dad in the late ’50s and early ’60s. He competed in the PRCA Rodeo Circuit before going to school to become a barber/stylist. He finally settled down in Bishop and cut hair for 34 years.

Mary Ann Braidhill passed away at home, surrounded by her family on April 27, 2014 at the age of 91. She was the daughter of Benjamin Willis Chiles and Pinckney Lafayette Twitty.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John Marshall Chiles and Benjamin W. Chiles, Jr.; sisters, Sarah Catherine Tucker, Pinckney Louise Masters, Martha Elizabeth LaRuey and Betty Sue Smith; and son, Ronald Ray Grimble.

Eleanor Elaine Humphres, age 62, resident of Mono County for 11 years, born in Tulare County on Aug. 15, 1951 passed away on April 27, 2014 at the Bishop Care Center.
Eleanor was a good hearted person; she would do anything for you. Loved by her family, the layaway Queen of Tulare County, her life was on her own terms.
She is survived by sisters, Shirley C Muranda and Sandra Bazzle; sons, Albert Lisenbery and Scott Lisenbery; grandsons, Evert, Calvin and Albert Lisenbery; granddaughter Liz Lisenbery; and two nieces, Alpha Castellanos and Judy Bazzle.

Sandra Lynn Heald passed away on April 13, 2014 at the age of 62. She was born June 5, 1951 in San Fernando to Kenneth and Anna Brewer.
As a toddler she moved to Hot Creek. She grew up in the Owens Valley, living on fish hatcheries at Mount Whitney, Fish Springs and Black Rock. Sandra graduated high school, valedictorian of her class in 1969 from Big Pine. She then attended college in Glendale before returning to the Owens Valley and marrying her high school sweetheart, Charles Heald in November 1971.

Donald W. Reeves, 75, of Keeler, passed away at home on April 1, 2014 of natural causes.
He was born in South Dakota on Jan. 17, 1939 and came to California with his family in his mid-teens. He worked for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, with whom he had several job titles, for over 30 years, retiring in the mid-1990s.
Don enjoyed life to the fullest, with his main hobbies being photography, cars and traveling. He was a friend to all and was always ready with a helping hand.
