Susan Margaret Jenkins

Born in Lone Pine, Susan Margaret Jenkins, 52, a resident of Lone Pine, Bishop and Long Beach, passed away July 31, 2011 at her home in Long Beach.
Susan was a wonderful and unique woman. She loved to cook for everyone and always lent a helping hand. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and everyone she cared for. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothea Jenkins; father, James Jenkins; and brother, James Jenkins.

Linda Louise Morse, age 56, made her home and raised her children in Big Pine. On May 18, 1955, in Ridgecrest, she blessed the world with her arrival and on Aug. 1, 2011, she was freed, to walk unencumbered at God’s side.

Lt. Colonel (Ret.) Wayne S. Winch, Sr.

Lt. Colonel (Ret.) Wayne S. Winch, born on Sept. 14, 1937 in Summit, N.J., died following a long illness on July 26, 2011, in Garden Grove surrounded by his family.
Wayne attended Dover High School in Dover, N.J. and Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J. where he received a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Donald Hudson Terry
1926-2011
Don passed away in the early evening of July 24, 2011 in Bakersfield. He was born January 1, 1926 in Lone Pine.
Don was a descendant of Big Pine pioneers George and Nettie Hall who arrived in Big Pine in the 1880’s. He graduated high school in Lone Pine and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943 serving until 1946. He served in the amphibious forces of the U.S. Navy and saw action in the Pacific land invasion of Iwo Jima and Okinawa in 1945.

John M. Kilgore

Born Sept. 25, 1932 in Dow, Okla. to James R. and Thelma M. Kilgore, John M. Kilgore passed away July 15, 2011.
John was the second of seven boys and one sister. He was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Jimmy.
He is survived by his brothers, Roger, Rudy, Wayne, Kenneth and Jerry; and sister, DeLana.
John enlisted in the Army at the age of 17. He served his boot camp at Fort Riley, Kan.
Robert Eugene Frazer
1923-2011
Robert Eugene Frazer was born in Tecumeseh, Neb. on July 13, 1923 to Eugene Cooper Sherman and Lema Armona Darnell Sherman and passed away in Bishop on July 14, 2011.
He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during World War II as a signalman and underwater demolition team member in 13 invasions on the U.S.S. Doyan.

Esther Mae Barnes

Esther Mae Barnes was born March 17, 1922 in Osawatomie, Kan. to Lloyd and Ethel Wollen. She passed away June 28, 2011. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and teacher.
She is survived by her sister, Nancy Tinker of Visalia; brother, Linton Wollen of Merced; daughters, Alison Barnes and Leslie Troncale; granddaughter, Alyssa Coleman; and three great-grandchildren.
Lilian K. Davis
1922-2011
After a long battle with cancer, Lillian K. Davis passed away on June 27, 2011 with her two daughters by her side.
Lillian was born Nov. 19, 1922 to George and Elisabeth Kaufmann in Detroit, Mich.She graduated from Denby High School in Detroit in 1942. Lillian married her best friend LeRoy Davis on May 1, 1944. They were married 40 years.
