Neddeen Philis Naylor

Neddeen Philis Naylor passed away at her home on Dec. 25, 2013. She was 85 years old.
A cry dance will be held at 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3 at the Lone Pine Indian Reservation ball field, and a celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4 at the Lone Pine Indian Reservation gymnasium. A potluck luncheon will follow.
Neddeen is survived by her children, Sue Ann, Mary, Nancy, Eloise, Alice (Rick), Valorie, Kelly; daughter-in-law, Eleanor; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and other relatives.

Ethel (Goldstein) de la Torre was born three days before Christmas in Brookline (Boston), Mass., and was raised there. She spent time as a Girl Scout and was extremely fond of the experience; it was there that she first developed a love for fishing.

Don Larson, a resident of Bishop for 45 years born in Storm Lake, Iowa on July 2, 1917, passed away on Dec. 26, 2013 in the early morning at the Bishop Care Center. He was 96.
Donald loved living in Bishop for 45 years; he loved golf, bridge clubs along with fishing in the local area. He was married for 53 years to Ruth Larson.
He is survived by his son, Brad, and grandchildren, Kailey and Jacob Larson.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Jan. 11 at the United Methodist Church, Bishop.

David Arthur Keeney

David Arthur Keeney
1938-2013

David Arthur Keeney was born on Nov. 7, 1938, in San Francisco. He died peacefully on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013 at Southern Inyo Hospital in Lone Pine, where he had been a resident since July 2012.
David graduated from Palo Alto High School, a star half-back (wide receiver) on the Paly Vikings championship football team. He also excelled in baseball in school and as an early Little Leaguer. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy Air Division, serving as a flight-deck crewman and firefighter during the early years of the Vietnam war.

Carl L. Boyer died peacefully at his home in Lone Pine on Tuesday Dec. 17, 2013, surrounded by his family. He was 91.

Irene was born in Danville, Quebec, Canada to John and Bertha Beard on Dec. 1, 1926. She passed away on Dec. 10, 2013 at the Kern Village in Kernville.
Irene immigrated to the United States with her husband and children in 1959 to live in Southern California where she worked as a teacher and principal for St. Timothy’s Church school. In 1969 they migrated north to Little Lake where they owned and operated Little Lake Hotel. They eventually settled in Lone Pine.

In loving memory of our dearest father and grandfather.
Thomas “Tommy” Dieterich joined his beloved Jane on Dec. 22. Passing peacefully with family by his side at Northern Inyo Hospital following a brief illness. Tom was born in Bishop on Feb. 26, 1924 in his grandfather’s home on Third Street. His parents were Thomas F. Dieterich and Minnie (Reynolds) Dieterich. He had one younger sister, Jeri.

Donna Bunce, age 65, resident of Sacramento for 19 years, born in Glendale on March 20, 1948 passed away Dec. 17, 2013 at the Bishop Care Center. She moved to Bishop in 1978, raised a family went back to school and earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. She worked for Caltrans and The Bishop Grill and retired from Caltrans in Sacramento.

Juanita Huarte, age 86, a resident of Bishop for 70 years, born in Safford, Ariz. on Sept. 2, 1927 passed away Dec. 21, 2013 at Renown Medical Center in Reno.
Juanita was raised by her grandparents on their ranch in Wilcox, Ariz. In her early teens, she moved to Bishop where she met the love of her life, Sam Diego Huarte. They were married and raised their three children in the Bishop area.
