Aiden Christopher Bacoch
Aiden Christopher Bacoch was born Christmas night at 10:16 p.m. to Ana Bacoch at Northern Inyo Hospital. He went with the Lord on January 13, from Loma Linda Childrenâs Hospital, to be with his great-grandpa and great-grandma, Michael and Geraldine Bacoch, Sr., and his cousin, Tiana Hooper.
Melba Davis Reger
Melba Davis Reger, 96, passed away on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014 at Golden Meadows in Banning. Melba was born May 21, 1917 to Herman and Meta Pietsch Hinz in Farmington, Minn. and was a graduate of Farmington High School. She was a resident of Big Pine for 63 years, Jamestown, Calif. for seven years and Banning for five years. She was always active in her community as a Girl Scout Leader, the Gold Diggers Club and an active member of the Methodist Church in Big Pine.
Thomas M. Knight
Thomas M. Knight passed away Jan. 13, 2014, after many years of fighting cancer. He was born on Oct. 8, 1949, in Hawthorne to Herbert and Elaine Knight.
For more than 30 years, he worked as a lineman with Edison, acquiring many nicknames such as Part Lights, Old Man and Pops. He was liked and respected by many.
He was a wonderful husband, father figure, provider and friend. We will miss him and are grateful to have had him in our lives.
Regula âReggyâ Fandrich
Regula âReggyâ Fandrich passed away on Jan. 7, 2014 at the age of 91.Â She died at the home of her son, Dale, and daughter-in-law, Wanna, in Palmdale.Â Dale and Wanna had been her devoted caretakers for the last five years of her life.
Gregory Joseph Turner
Longtime Bishop resident Gregory Joseph Turner passed away from cancer at the Veterans Medical Center in Reno on Nov. 26, 2013 at the age of 64.
Gail Eileen Salley
Gail Salley, age 71, passed away Dec. 2, 2013 at Reno.
She was born in Los Angeles and has resided the last 15 years in Bishop.
Gail is survived by her husband of 54 years, Ron; son, Scott Salley; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and David Chavez; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Gail will be truly missed.
Bruce William Simcox
Born Feb. 19, 1952 in Des Monies, Iowa, Bruce passed away Dec. 28, 2013 in West Virginia after a short battle with organ failure.
Bruce moved with his family from Iowa to Bishop when he was 2. In the 1970s he and his mother moved to Long Beach, where he attended high school. After graduation, Bruce enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Through his adult life, he held various jobs, moving to West Virginia in May 2013.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peggy and Bill; brother, Ross; sister, Terry; and nephews, Jim and Jason Mann.
Norvil Oie Aigner
Norvil Oie Aigner passed into heaven on Dec. 28, 2013. He was 98 years old. Norvil âPeteâ was born at home on March 12, 1915 to Norvil Mills Aigner and Victoria Castro in Lone Pine.
James Paul Misenhimer
Specialist James Paul Misenhimer entered eternal life on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013 in Bamberg, Germany.
James was one of three boys born to parents Terry and Julie Misenhimer. He has an older brother, Matthew, and a twin brother, Brian. James was born in San Diego and raised mainly in La Quinta, but also had lived in Bishop and Carlsbad for a time.
Eugene David Shaffer
Eugene David Shaffer, 90, of Apple Valley, passed away Friday, Dec. 27 2013.
He was born Feb. 22, 1923, in Cleveland, Ohio. Eugene, fondly known as Dave, graduated from Bishop High School in 1940. He went to work for Cal Interstate Telephone Company in Bishop after graduating high school. He enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and fought in World War II as a Navy pilot. He married Thelma Norberg in 1946, and they lived together in Bishop before relocating to Big Bear Lake in 1962.
