Roberta Lynn Corning
Roberta Lynn Corning, born Dec. 18, 1963, passed away at her home in Dyer, Nev. Jan. 18, 2014.
A beloved wife of David Corning, she was also the devoted daughter of Isabel Marshall of Big Pine and loving sister of Ruth Ann Goede of Bishop.
Roberta was born in Pasadena and grew up in Sierra Madre, but lived 24 years in the Bishop area before moving with her husband David to Dyer.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Hayward Marshall of Big Pine in September of 2012.
Corrine Piper was born April 12, 1928, to Ed Lewis and Tennie Lent. She was called to start her journey and meet her loved ones that went before her on Jan. 25, 2014.
She was the head maid at Vagabond when it first opened and she worked at Speagles Laundry.
She then met and married Steve Piper.
They resided here in Bishop and had five kids. Unfortunately Steve was taken early from the family and then she lived in Benton for many years until her death.
Kenneth Martin Deboy
Born March 24, 1934 in Lodi, Kenneth Martin Deboy passed away Jan. 20, 2014 in Reno.
He was a charter member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bishop and served as a church treasurer for 42 years.
Ken graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 1960 with a degree in civil engineering. He went to work for the California Department of Transportation, District 10, in Stockton. In 1968 he transferred to District 9 in Bishop. He retired after 37 years of service.
Robert Lee âBobâ Autry
Our loving father, grandfather and friend, Robert Lee Autry âBob,â passed away Jan. 13, 2014. He was born Aug. 20, 1931 to Mary Arline and Robert Lee Autry of Tujunga.
Bob and his son moved to Tooele, Utah to build a Horseback Riding School. He loved the valley and stayed to be close to family. He was currently employed as a Truck Driver (Truck Boss) for Palmer Trucking and Adobe Rock. He loved his job.
Born Dec. 2, 1941 in Stewart, Nev., Anthony Stone passed away Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014 at Saint Maryâs Regional Medical Center. Anthony was raised in Big Pine, where he resided at the Indian Camp. His interest when he was young was baseball, fishing and hunting. He then met his true love, Patricia Summers of Bishop, and married in 1959, to whom he was married for 55 years.
Thomas Franklin Ingersoll
Tom was born in Watsonville on Sept. 17, 1940 to Dee and Mildred Ingersoll. As a teen he worked in the lettuce fields in Salinas.
Fresh out of high school, he married Norma Grubb and he began his Forest Service career in the Los Padres National Forest at Arroyo Seco. A short time later he transferred to the Cuyama area, where their two children were born. In 1974 he transferred to the Inyo National Forest at Bishop. After he and Norma divorced, he married Frances Farrell, the love of his life and his partner for 33 years.
Barbara Anne Christenson
Barbara Anne Christenson passed away in Reno on Jan. 25, 2014. Barby was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on Nov. 3, 1934 to R.H. Smith and Isabelle Findlayson. Her childhood was spent in Canada. She attended the University of Alberta in Edmonton where she received a Bachelorâs Degree in Nursing.
Lois Anna Broady
Born April 14, 1915 in Long Beach, Lois Anna (Smith) Broady died Tuesday, Jan. 14 at the Bishop Care Center. She was 98 and had lived in Big Pine for 87 years.
Her father, Frank W. âSkeetâ Smith, brought his family to Big Pine in 1926, where they happily fell into the country life of the Owens Valley. His wife, Lois Wells Smith, nurtured Lois and her sisters Eleanor and Dorothy into homemaking, gardening, art, music, community service and other talents like fishing, at which Lois excelled nearly her entire life.
Dr. Suzanne A. M. Stokes
Dr. Suzanne A. M. Stokes, beloved mother, grandmother of three, great-grandmother of seven, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014 from injuries suffered in a car accident.
Born Sept. 18, 1953 in Melrose, Mass., eight-year Bishop resident Stephen Johnson passed way at home with his family by his side on Jan. 20, 2014.
