Elmer H. âBuddyâ Bayer
Buddy was born in Bishop at Mrs. Bohnâs Maternity home to Lily and Elmer Bayer Sr. He spent the next 60 years living in Lee Vining.
Alta Fay Hastings
Funeral services for Alta Fay Hastings, 84, of Seminole, Texas will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, in the First Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Gaines County Cemetery with services under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Seminole. Alta passed away Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014 in Lubbock.
Charles âBZâ Thomas Morris
Charles âBZâ Thomas Morris was born Jan. 16, 1944 in Bakersfield to Charles Edwin Morris and Mary Frances Elizabeth OâBrien (known as Betty OâBrien Morris). He passed away on Oct. 3, 2014 in Porterville. He suffered from a progressive form of Parkinsonâs disease.
Relles Ann Amick
Relles Ann Amick passed away on Oct. 10, 2014 at her sonâs home in Idaho, surrounded by family. Relles was born on Oct. 20, 1924 in Lone Pine, where she spent much of her life. She spent the early part of her life as a waitress and then later as a school bus driver.
After marrying her husband Austin, she lived in Olancha at the Caltrans yard until her husbandâs retirement, when they moved back to Lone Pine.
Norma Inez Forsyth
Norma Inez Forsyth, age 94, was born in Nebraska and passed away on Sept. 29, 2014 in Lone Pine. Norma raised her family working as a waitress for more than 30 years in the Southern California area before marrying Russell Forsyth and retiring to Big Pine where they lived for more than 40 years. During their retirement years she and her husband traveled throughout the United States, fishing and golfing through nearly every state (having only missed two of the 50) and enjoying being in the outdoors.
Marie June Chalmers
Marie June Chalmers, 84, born in Sacramento on June 20, 1930, passed away Oct. 10, 2014 in Bishop.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, in 2009.
She leaves behind her loving daughters, Debra, Janice, Christine and Linda; grandchildren, Bryan, Sarah and Roman.
She moved to June Lake in 1970 before migrating to Bishop in 1997 with husband Al to escape the snowy winters of June Lake. Marie served in the Lady Bills and enjoyed playing bingo at the Elks Lodge with friends. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Drucilla Mae Jeffery
Born April 27, 1919 in Maricopa, Drucilla Mae Jeffery died Oct. 14, 2014 surrounded by her beloved family.
Dru moved to Bishop in 1958 with her family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bus; her son, Bill; and her grandson, Darren.
Herbert Otto Willy Fischer
Born in Berlin Germany, March 23, 1924 Herbert passed away on Sept. 21, 2014.
He leaves no one behind, as he is the last survivor in his family.
He was in the German army at the tender age of 17, and was promptly captured by the Russians and made a prisoner of war in Siberia for seven years. He often commented that we donât know what cold is. He had many bad memories from this time, and choose not to talk about them. In his last few months, the memories came back to haunt him. His friend and caregiver, Debra, let him know that he was forgiven.
Grady Stuart Elliott
Grady Stuart Elliott passed away Oct. 4, 2014 at his home in Bishop. Grady was preceded in death by his mother, Terry Willis, and his father, Grady Elliott Sr.
Grady graduated from Bishop High in 1965 and had a love for vintage cars, including his little red Corvette. Grady was a butcher/meat cutter for many years until moving back to Bishop to be near his mother, Terry.
Grady is survived by his wife, Georgia âJoJo;â brother, Billy; sister, Julie; and three children, Teri, Greg and Kami.
No services will be held per his request.
Ronald Byron Lewis
Ronald Byron Lewis passed away Sept. 29, 2014 at his home in Bishop, surrounded by family, after battling lung cancer. For his police friends, Ron died at 4:40 p.m. and his call sign with LAPD was 4K40.
