Joseph Mikalowsky
1938-2011
Born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin and died in Lone Pine, California at age 73.
Joe joined the U.S. Air Force in May 1957, served proudly for 28 years including tours in Vietnam and Korea and then retired to Lone Pine.
During his 26 years in Lone Pine, Joe served as the VFW Post Commander, manager of the Mt. Whitney Golf Club and helped Ernie Laskey at Ernie’s Tin Roof by Diaz Lake.
Joe was well known and liked by many, he will be greatly missed.
Kermit Douglas Greer
1955-2012
Kermit Douglas Greer, born Jan. 3, 1955 in Orange County, Calif. at St. Joseph’s Hospital, passed away Jan. 9, 2012.
Kermit had a true passion for life and conversation. He loved being involved in the Native American culture. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and all the neighbor kids. He had a passion for hiking, biking, golfing, camping and especially learning.
Roy Wayne Brown
1929-2012
Roy Brown of Bakersfield passed away in Bakersfield Memorial Hospital from pneumonia after surgery on a broken leg.
Roy was born Dec. 22, 1929 to Sanford Jonah and Hazel Brown in Texola, Okla. The family moved to California when Roy was 7 years old and settled in Delano where he went to school and graduated from Delano High School in 1947.

Pauline L. Hair
1923-2012
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11 at Brune Mortuary Chapel in Bishop for 24-year Big Pine resident Pauline L. Hair. Rev. Kathleen Puntar of First United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be at the East Line Street Cemetery.
Born Nov. 8, 1923 in Teague, Texas, Pauline passed away Jan. 4, 2012 at her residence after an extended illness. She was 88.

Charles Joseph Van De Voorde
1954-2011
Charles Joseph Van De Voorde, age 57, resident of Bishop for 15 years, born May 12, 1954 in Palo Alto, passed away Dec. 25, 2011 in Bishop.
Charlie worked for the High Sierra Distribution Company for more than 15 years and achieved countless awards. He was a loyal and true friend to all who met him. His passion was to ride motorcycles with the Prospectors Club, and he enjoyed fishing until the sun went down.
Samuel P. Taliaferro, Jr.
1920-2011
Born July 12 1920 and passed away of natural causes Dec. 29 2011.
He is survived by his two sons, Hal and Wayne; his sister, Gloria Van Blarcom and her sons, Jay and Jeff; granddaughter, Tanya Vomacka and her sons, Spencer and Dylan.
He is preceded in death by his father, Samuel P. Taliaferro; his mother, Alice F. Taliaferro; and his brother, George Taliaferro.
Janet Oakley Moberly
1921-2012
At her request, no services will be held for Bishop resident Janet O. Moberly.
Born March 21, 1921 in Seattle, Wash to the late Alexander G. and Mary Elizabeth Oakley, Janet passed away Jan. 2, 2012 at Sterling Heights assisted living center following a courageous fight against a long illness.

Lane Edward Hollis
1962-2011
Lane Edward Hollis; born in Barstow on Nov. 13, 1962. Lane spent most of his life in Bishop where he enjoyed camping, fishing, motorcycle riding and spending time with friends. Lane loved the outdoors. The last few years of Lane’s life, he enjoyed reading and sharing God’s word. Even though Lane didn’t have much, he felt he had “more than most” because he had Christ.
Leona ‘Onie’ May Moxley
1936-2011
Leona was born in Jamestown, Calif. to Joe and Ramona Mayginnes. Leona graduated from Yerington High School, Yerington, Nev.
Leona was a member of the Rainbow Girls and very active in 4-H, all while being very involved in a ranch/farming lifestyle.
