Ralph ‘Jimmy’ Shoshone
1945-2010
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2 at the Beatty Cemetery for Ralph “Jimmy” Shoshone. A luncheon will follow at the Beatty Community Center.
Born April 30, 1945 to Josephine Patterson and Charles Shoshone, Jimmy died in Reno on Sept. 15, 2010. He was 65.

Elizabeth Fay (Libby) Vassar
1937-2010
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 23 at the First United Methodist Church for lifelong Bishop resident Elizabeth Fay (Libby) Vassar. Those who attend are asked to wear red and bring a smile.
Born June 30, 1937 to Francis Fay and Charles H. (Mannie) Olds in Bishop, Libby died at the Bishop Care Center after a brief illness on Sept. 12, 2010. She was 73.
Libby married Mitchell M. Vassar in 1953. They had three children, Marcy, Mitch and Missy.
Thornton Jay ‘T.J.’ Marker
1922-2010
Private burial services will take place at Santa Barbara Cemetery in Santa Barbara for seven-year Bishop resident Thornton Jay “T.J.” Marker.
Born in Long Beach on Sept. 4, 1922, T.J. died Sept. 6, 2010 at Northern Inyo Hospital from complications of diabetes. He was 88.
Madeline C. Robinson
1914-2010
Private services will be held at a later date for former Bishop resident Madeline C. Robinson.
Born Jan. 31, 1914 in Riverside to Glenn and Alice Calkins, Madeline died Sept. 18, 2010 in Portland, Ore. She was 96.
Madeline was a nurse in the early 1950s at Northern Inyo Hospital in Bishop. She also served as office nurse for Dr. Robert Denton and Dr. C.L. Scott.
Carroll E. Thomas
1910-2010
A private memorial service will be held in the fall for Big Pine resident Carroll E. Thomas.
Born May, 1, 1910 in Clarinda, Iowa, Carroll died at the Bishop Care Center on Sept. 15, 2010. He was 100.
Carroll was the first of eight children. He was preceded in death by his three brothers and three sisters, and also his wife of many years and mother of his sons, Ruth E. Thomas.
