Award-winning documentary filmmaker and author Nicholas Clapp will be signing copies of his latest book, âGold and Silver in the Mojave: Images of a Last Frontier,â at the Eastern California Museum in Independence from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, April 13.
Clapp will make a presentation, followed by a question and answer session. Light refreshments will be served.
BISHOP â The Jill Kinmont Indian Education Fudn is offering up to 10 $1,000 scholarships for the 2013-14 school year to graduating Native American high school seniors, students who wish to attend or are attending vocational schools or college and to students attending graduate school.
Applications are available at local schools and by contacting the Jill Kinmont Indian Education Fund, 310 Sunland Dr. in Bishop.

BISHOP â The Eastern Sierra Tri-County Fairgrounds is looking to community members to show support for local students by sponsoring the 2013 Junior Livestock Show.
The livestock show is the culmination of the exhibitorsâ hard work and dedication to their projects.
The Fairgrounds is looking for sponsorships to offset the cost of awards, judges and other expenses associated with the production of the event.
âRewarding our local youth for their efforts only fortifies the values parents and leaders have sought to instill,â a press release from the Fairgrounds states.
