Starting this week, City of Bishop Assistant Finance Director Cheryl Solesbee will be training her replacement until Solesbee retires in January, ending, by all accounts, a 27-year career of outstanding, to-the-penny services and exceptional commitment.

After much anticipation and still in time for the holiday shopping season, The Inyo Register is unveiling today its first-ever and first annual calendar compiled solely of local residents’ photographs.
The 2014 “Images of Inyo County” calendar is being inserted into today’s edition as a gift to the Register’s loyal subscribers and a thank you to everyone who reads Inyo County’s hometown newspaper.
The calendar features 14 photographs submitted by amateur shutterbugs from throughout Inyo and Mono counties; all photos adhere to the 2014 calendar theme of “Local Beauty” in Inyo County

Online petition urges L.A. to stop solar project

Fresh on the heels of its letter-writing campaign, the Manzanar Committee launched an online campaign Friday encouraging residents to sign a petition calling on the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power to halt its proposed Southern Owens Valley Solar Ranch project.
