Four-year-old Kellen McGovern of Bishop plays in the Bishop City Park with River Davis, 3 of Murrieta. The two spent Tuesday enjoying the spring weather and playing on the park's playground equipment as other residents and visitors picnicked nearby.
An Airbus with 150 people on board crashed in the southern French Alps on Tuesday, officials said. The A320, operated by Lufthansaâ€™s budget airline Germanwings, was flying from Barcelona to Dusseldorf and went down in the Digne region of the Alps-De-Haute Province, according to Reuters. There were 144 passengers, two pilots and four crew members, Germanwings said. "We are sorry to confirm that flight 4U9525 is an accident," the airline said on Twitter.

Big Dance Round Up and Look Ahead
Last week we gave you a preview of the tournament and some predictions of teams that we felt could make a run to the Final 4. Well, those predictions were way off and the bracket this writer submitted to his friends and a couple websites sits in about 10 millionth place. All the wise guys were talking about Iowa State and Virginia. Those teams won a combined 1 game. Now we are going to go region by region to see what happened and what we can look forward to seeing next weekend.

Kristen Kamei of Bishop shot this photo of a great horned owl in a field behind her parentsâ€™ house recently. Kamie said that in 18 years in Bishop, she had never seen a great horned owl in the area. "It was quite a site, especially during the day to see this guy staring at me," she said.
Great horned owls are native to America their diet consists of rabbits and hares, rats and mice, voles and just about any other small mammal it can take down.
