Kentucky came out and took care of business against one of the SEC cellar dwellers. The Wildcats opened up a 25 point lead before the half was over and then put in in cruise control for the second half. Willie Cauley-Stein led the balanced scoring effort by Kentucky with 14 points.

Round Fire Update

As of Sunday morning, CalFire reported that the Round Fire was 65 percent contained and had destroyed 40 homes in the Swall Meadows and Paradise area, and damaged five others.
The report also states that the fire is currently at 7,000 acres.
The agency said that downed power lines in Paradise and Swall Meadows makes re-entry hazardous for homeowners.
Crews are currently locating trees that were damaged by fire and tagging them for removal.
Those who were evacuated remain at the Crowley Lake Community Center.

Donations for fire vicims being accepted at Tri-County Fairgrounds

The Eastern Sierra Tri-County fairgrounds is accepting donations to help residents of Swall Meadows and Paradise who lost their homes to the Round Fire Friday night.
According to Bishop Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Tawni Thomson, who is manning the donation center, any and all donations are being accepted.
Thomson also said that some residents have offered to house fire victims in spare bedrooms or RVs. Currently, the Eastern Sierra Tri-County Fairgrounds and the Chamber of Commerce are working together to organize the relief effort.

Wildfire prompts evacuations of Paradise

February 6, 2015

An afternoon fire in the Paradise and Swall Meadows areas has prompted mandatory evacuations in the community of Paradise. As of 3:45 p.m. Friday, the wind-driven fire was between five and 10 acres and was also threatening the Swall Meadows community. Officials expected that community to be evacuated next.
Forest Service officials said the area is experiencing 20 mile per hour winds with 70 mph gusts.
An evacuation center has been set up at the Crowley Lake Community Center.
