Margaret Border Gibford
1914-2011

No funeral services are scheduled at this time for Margaret Border Gibford.
Born Sept. 23, 1914 in Bozeman, Mont. to Frank and Anna Rentchler, Margaret, the youngest of seven children, died March 30, 2011 in Bishop.
Margaret grew up in Bozeman and graduated from Bozeman Deaconess Hospital with a degree in nursing in 1935.
She nursed in Montana and California since before World War II and ended her career retiring from the Inyo County Sanatorium in 1978.

Kathrin Eleanore Wilbur

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, at the East Line Street Cemetery in Bishop for Kathrin Eleanore Wilbur. A celebration of her life will follow at the Bishop Elks Lodge, 151 E. Lone St. in Bishop.
Born in March 30, 1925 in San Pedro to Rosanna Laura Henley and Davis Robert Henley, Kathy died peacefully in her sleep with her son David in a bedroom nearby on March 27, 2011 after a courageous, years long battle with emphysema.

No funeral services have been announced for 54-year Chalfant resident Harris Lester Riggins. His ashes will be spread by his family.
Born Dec. 22, 1927 to Walter and Dorothy Riggins in Brawley, Harris died of complications from prostate surgery on March 15, 2011. He was 83.

A celebration of life with an open potluck party will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 9 in the Olancha School Gymnasium for Olancha resident Barbara Ann Bellmak.  Further information can be found at barbiebellamak.com.
Born Sept. 29, 1953, Barbie died March 22, 2011. She was 57.

First-ever beer fest coming to Bishop

Inyo County will get its first taste of a craft beer festival this spring.
Bishop will play host to its first microbrew festival Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7 in conjunction with the annual Bishop Home Show and Laws Railroad Museum Choo Choo Swap Meet.
Bishop Mikro Bier Fest organizers are currently looking for local residents and businesses who would like to volunteer or sponsor the event.
Currently, event organizer Britta Wichers is working with the Bishop Area Chamber of Commerce and Manor Market to attract more breweries and out-of-the-area residents who follow trade beer events.

Couple nabbed for drug trafficking

A routine traffic stop Monday on U.S. 395 near Manzanar led to the arrest of two Southern California residents on suspicion of trafficking methamphetamine through Inyo County on their way to Carson City.
According to the Inyo County Sheriff’s Department, California Highway Patrol officers clocked Victoria Wood, 38, and her passenger Joseph Navetta, 41, both of the Long Beach area, traveling in excess of 100 miles per hour in a silver Jaguar sedan at about 7 a.m. Monday.

Born March 6, 1956, Craig died unexpectedly of natural causes March 20, 2011.
Craig was a simple man with a unique sense of humor. He will be dearly missed by his parents, Diane and Ron; sister, Cindy; brother, Cameron; and twin nephews, Eugene Ronald and Robert Craig.
