Born Feb. 17, 1946 in Bishop, lifelong Owens Valley resident Larry âChiefâ Williams, passed away peacefully at his home Monday, Nov. 3.
Born Feb. 17, 1946, lifelong Owens Valley resident Larry (Chief) Williams passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, Nov. 3, 2014. He was the eldest son of Wilfred Williams and Lorraine Barlow.
He leaves behind his wife, Debra Williams; sister, Wanda Hodgekinson; daughter, Charmarie Williams; son Wade Williams; brothers-in-law, Rick, Mark and Ron Napoles; grandsons, granddaughters, numerous nieces and nephews.
Esther was born Jan. 10, 1919 in North Dakota and passed away on Oct. 16, 2014 in Menifee.
She is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Gerry Atkinson; two children, Carmen and Lynda; two stepchildren, Vicki and Candi; 14 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Darryl; her grandson, Jeremiah; great-granddaughter, Ivy; and her first husband, Harmon Nelson.

The Battle of Ohio had some playoff implications for the first time in
years. Cleveland took sole possession of first place in the AFC North after a dominating victory over Cincinnati. Cincinnati QB Andy Dalton had the worst performance of his career as he went 10-33 for 86 yards and 3 interceptions. This resulted in a quarterback rating of 2. As for Cleveland, this marks the latest in the season they have been in first place since 1994.

It was 10 years ago today that the community unveiled a long-planned memorial to one of the nationâs bravest soldiers: Kern W. Hudson Dunagan, a Bishop graduate whose heroism in the Vietnam War earned him the Medal of Honor.
The Inyo County Planning Commission has reviewed the Environmental Impact Report for the proposed Adventure Trails pilot project and forwarded the document on to the Inyo County Board of Supervisors for a final decision next month.
The Planning Commission made no formal recommendation to the board, but did accept comments from dozens of residents and visitors who either attended last weekâs Planning Commission meeting, or submitted comment letters to be entered into the record.

The Inyo County Elections Department has completed the tabulation of votes from the Nov. 4 General Election and the preliminary numbers held.
All told, 5,511 of Inyo Countyâs 9,500 registered voters cast ballots for the Nov. 4 election, for a 58 percent turnout. The next step in the election process will be to have the Inyo County Board of Supervisors certify the election results.
