Inyo pot farm raid leads police to SoCal meth lab

A pot farm in the wilderness west of Lone Pine has led investigators to a meth lab in Southern California.
Many of the details surrounding this week’s raid on the meth lab are being withheld, but officials said it stemmed from agents with the Inyo Narcotics Enforcement Team and U.S. Forest Service serving multiple search warrants in Southern California as part of their investigation into the Hogback Creek marijuana cultivation site in Inyo County that was itself raided last week.

Joan ‘Joni’ Louise Wentworth

Joan “Joni” Louise Wentworth of Anacortes, Wash. and former resident of Bishop went to The Lord on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, with her family by her side. She was born in Columbus, Ohio on March 19, 1936.
At a young age she moved to New York City with her parents, Clem and Alice Rande, where she graduated from high school and went to work as a teletype operator for Transworld Airlines in the Manhattan headquarters.

James Preston Wallace

James Preston Wallace, 92, died Aug. 26, 2013 at the Bishop Care Center. He was born at White River to Dennis and Lena Wallace on March 1, 1921.
There will be graveside services at the Fish Lake Valley Cemetery at 10 a.m. Sept. 7, 2013.
He was the youngest of seven children, all of whom have preceded him in death.

At 81 years of age, Sheila A McClammer passed away peacefully on Dec. 27, 2012 in Newhall. She was born on Sept. 1, 1931 to Ernest and Ethel Lewis in Framingham Mass. Sheila grew up in Pasadena, moving there as a young girl. In 1969 she brought her family to Bishop to raise. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Bishop Nursery and later Copper Kettle. In 1984 she moved to Lancaster to work for Rockwell. After retiring she moved back to Bishop to enjoy retirement.

Darrell Lloyd Fookes

Darrell is survived by his wife, Donna; sons, Dwayne, Darren and Dennis; seven grandchildren; two brothers; and a sister.
Darrell moved to Lone Pine in 1999, where he worked for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. He retired in 2012.
There will be a celebration of life at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7 at the VFW Post in Lone Pine.

Lorrie was born Sept. 23, 1967 in Lone Pine. She passed away Aug. 15, 2013 at Renown Medical Center in Reno. She was 45 years old.
Lorrie was a kind-hearted, giving, humorous, intelligent person who loved to read and watch television cooking shows. She graduated Bishop Union High School in 1985. She had a talent for drawing and had the voice of an angel when she sang. Lorrie could remember the words to every song she had ever heard.

Tommy Miller was known as a fun loving man who lived life to the fullest. His laughter was contagious and humorous nature made him one of a kind. He had many stories to tell and the time shared with him was always memorable. He touched a lot of hearts and had many friends, he was a loving son, father, grandpa, brother, cousin and uncle, a proud man who will be dearly missed.

Longtime resident and barber of Bishop passed quietly in Idaho, Friday, Aug. 16, 2013 surrounded by his daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Love is survived by his daughter, Deanna Smith; three grandchildren, Jessie (Robin) and husband, Steve Adams, Ivan Smith and wife, Jerrilene and Kevin Smith and wife Jill; seven great-grandchildren, Frisco Adams, Trustin Adams, Samantha Adams, Lauren Smith, Maxton Smith, Ivy Jene Smith and Charilyn; one sister, Ada Jo Tarver; and several nieces and nephews.
