In the first theatrical screening in nearly a year, the acclaimed documentary â€śThe Manzanar Fishing Clubâ€ť will be one of the highlighted features of the International Fly Fishing Film Festival in Mammoth Lakes next week.
In addition to the screening, fly fisherman Mas Okui, who learned to fish while interned at Manzanar, and writer Richard Imamura will be on hand for a special question and answer session following the screening at Mammothâ€™s Minaret Cinema.

Earth to Sky members were notified on Aug. 28 that one of their recent experiments made it into Ripleyâ€™s latest hardback. Earth to Sky student members, mentored by local astronomer Dr. Tony Phillips, are Justin Gilpin, Olivia Grah, Anna and Jordan Herbst, Sam Johnson, Melodie Lawrence, Rachel Molina, Ginger Perez, Amelia Phillips, Carson Reid, Bronwyn Stephenson and Michael White.
The Bishop Police Department announced today that it does not have a current contract with Symons Ambulance Service.
Traditionally, the PD has provided dispatching service for Symons, but, according to Bishop Police Chief Chris Carter, that contract recently expired and "due to various issues the City Council recently approved notifying Symons that the Police Department would discontinue providing dispatching services."
