As the public comment period for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power’s proposed Southern Owens Valley Solar Ranch project ticks away, the County of Inyo is working on a game plan to protect taxpayers.
Concerned “first and foremost” with the project’s potential impacts on local services, the county is reviewing a Draft Environmental Impact Report that LADWP released to the public Sept. 4 per the California Environmental Quality Act.
The purpose of the review is multi-fold, according to County Administrator Kevin Carunchio.
Arnie and Kelliann Palu received the Quarter Council Citizen Award at Monday’s Bishop City Council meeting.
“To a lot of people, (the Palus) are super duper special, a great example,” said Mayor Laura Smith. “It’s people like you that make this a great community.”
Bishop native Kelliann has worked at Dwayne’s Friendly Pharmacy for 19 years. She is music director, elder and choir member at First Presbyterian Church. She also is the organizer of the clown troupe that performs at the Mule Days and Christmas parades, Smith said.
Bishop’s Mule Days Executive Committee has named Tammy Mandrell as Bishop Mule Days’ new Executive Director.
Mandrell assumed her new role on Sept. 3.
Mule Days Executive Board President Dan Dean said that while Mandrell is a welcome addition to the Mule Days office, she is not new to the Mule Days event.
