LP School Board nearing bond decision

Small-business webinar series organizers are optimistic that the online events are inspiring added topics and will a positive impact on Eastern Sierra economy.
The first three of 22 webinars in the 2013 series, which started Feb. 6 and is free to Inyo, Mono and Kern residents, showed strong interest and vigorous participation, according to key series organizers Julie Langou, project manager for the Eastern Sierra Connect Regional Broadband Consortium, and Kelly Bearden, director of the California State University Small Business Development Center, which serves Kern, Inyo and Mono counties.

County helps set stage for brand-new, regional event

Local leaders have approved the closure of Millpond County Park for a new, dual-county event for Mammoth and Bishop residents and visitors to the area.
High Sierra Events is planning the first annual Mammoth 2 Bishop Fun Bike Ride on June 15. Event organizer Lloyd Cearley said the event will showcase the area to cycling enthusiasts of all levels and will feature live music at Millpond, the day’s destination.

County’s solar project finally a-go

Inyo County is ready to get to work on a solar project at its Independence campus thanks to a low-interest loan offered by the California Energy Commission.
Using the 15-year loan with a 1 percent interest rate offered by the CEC, Inyo County is beginning plans to construct a 612.8 kilowatt photovoltaic electric system.
Last week, county leaders approved a contract with Solar City for the roof-mounted system for county facilities in Independence.

The Lord chose Sunday, March 3, 2013 to quietly and peacefully bring Harry home after a year-long battle with cancer. The Lord had placed Harry on this sod on Feb. 17, 1948 to spend some time raising a beautiful family and doing a few things that God had planned for his life, including two years of service to our country in the U.S. Army.

1939-2013

Yvonne D. Jack, age 73, resident of Bridgeport for 35 years, born in Round Valley on April 14, 1939, passed away March 15, 2013 at her residence in Bridgeport.
Yvonne worked as a nurse’s aid for several years. She was also an excellent cook and took great pride in cooking for the annual, traditional walk from Lee Vining to Yosemite Valley for 20 years. She was also active in many community affairs.

Genie was born in Bishop on Nov. 22, 1952. She passed away March 12 in Reno from cancer.
She is survived by her parents, Gene and Jackie Billingsley; her husband, Wayne Chiatovich; a son, Timmothy Brown; and two granddaughters, Rilee and Mollee Brown. She also had two adopted four-legged boys, Jasper Banner and Yonder Blue. They loved her and she dearly loved them.

1956-2013

Terry Marie (Reed) Sepsey was born on Feb. 24, 1956 at Northern Inyo Hospital in Bishop and passed quietly at Renown Medical Center in Reno, Nev. on March, 3 2013 with her children by her side. She was 57 and a beautiful and loving young woman.
Born to Nancy and Edwin “Sandy” Reed, Terry was the younger of two daughters.
Having lived most of her life in the Owens Valley, Terry enjoyed the outdoors, working with friends and lovingly raised four children, Daniel, Amber, Ryan and Rahn.
