Donny Lee Miller
1953-2012
Donny Lee Miller, 58, a 28-year Lone Pine/Keeler resident who was born in Des Moines, Iowa on Oct. 31, 1953, passed away April 11, 2012 at Southern Inyo Hospital.
The Inyo Register’s election coverage moves a little farther north in Southern Inyo and the race for District 4 Inyo County Supervisor.
District 4 covers an area of the county that stretches just south of Bishop and continues to just north of Lone Pine, encompassing the communities of Independence, Aberdeen, Big Pine, Keough’s and Wilkerson.
Incumbent Marty Fortney and challengers Chris Dangwillo, Mark Tillemans and Nina Weisman have each provided a candidate’s statement which appears below.

With the Northern Inyo Hospital construction project nearing its completion, residents were recently offered sneak peeks of the brand-new facility and services to be offered there.
Hospital staffers have been giving tours to residents interested in seeing first-hand the fruits of the multi-year, multi-million dollar project paid for with taxpayer dollars.
Funded through a 2005, voter-approved bond, the project included the construction of up-to-date support, imaging and main hospital buildings at a cost of $62 million.

Larry W. White
1940-2012
Graveside funeral services for 12-year Bishop resident Larry W. White will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 21 at the East Line Street Cemetery in Bishop. Barbara Crockett and Bishop VFW Post 8988 will officiate.
Born Feb. 16, 1940 in Alhambra, Larry passed away April 13, 2012 at his home in Bishop. He was 72.
George William Rye
1924-2012
George William Rye, 88, a 32-year Bishop resident who was born in Miami, Ariz. on Feb. 10, 1924 passed away April 10, 2012 at the home of his daughter, Lynn and son-in-law, Paul in Redding.
George was preceded in death by his parents and younger twin brothers, Bob and Dick Rye.

Inyo County is prepared to handle an expected influx of prisoners and probationers that will result from California’s Public Safety Realignment Act of 2011.
In an effort to alleviate overcrowding in state prisons, California will be realigning low-level, non-violent felony offenders from the state correctional system to locally-run, community-based jails.

Ruth Alberta Perry
1918-2012
Ruth Alberta Perry, resident of Bishop for more than 60 years, born on July 21, 1918 in San Mateo, passed away March 31 at her residence in Idaho. She was 93 years old.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, Dwight Richard Perry.
Richard ‘Dick’ J. Gouin
1933-2012
Richard “Dick” J. Gouin, 78, of Bishop, passed away early Wednesday morning, April 11, 2012 at the Bishop Care Center. He was born in Woonsocket, R.I. on July 14, 1933.
He was the son of Wilfred T. and Albina M. (Sevigny) Gouin. He married Muriel Valiquette on Aug. 29, 1953. They relocated to Redondo Beach from Rhode Island in the mid-1950s and later on to Bishop in early 1964.
