Work and business attire and western, outdoor and casual wear will be featured at a fashion show fundraiser event next month.
Local businesses, organizations and artists are teaming up to realize the goal of the event â a fashion show, luncheon, silent auction, raffle and drawing â to make the âGateway to the Sierraâ mural south of Lone Pine a permanent fixture for the enjoyment of travelers, mural-lovers and locals alike.

As drought conditions worsen throughout the west, the U.S. Government is stepping forward to help local counties.
U.S. Department of Agriculture Agricultural Secretary Tom Vilsack announced last week that the federal government is designating 76 additional counties, including Inyo and Mono counties, in six states as primary natural disaster areas due to damage and losses caused by drought and excessive heat.
Inyo County Search and Rescue teams are currently scouring the backcountry in search of a 60-year-old hiker who was reported missing at about 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
According to the Inyo County Sheriffâs Department, Gary Dankworth, of Carson City, set out to climb Norman Clyde Peak above Big Pine Saturday.
Dankworth has black and gray hair and a moustache and was last seen wearing a light gray hat, tan long-sleeve shirt, light gray pants and red boots and was carrying a day pack.
