Friday afternoon was not a bright spot for Lone Pine Golden Eaglesâ fans.
The Boron Lady Bobcats leveled the Lady Eagles softball team 3-14. The baseball match-up wasnât much better with a 9-15 loss for Lone Pine.
The combination of strong Boron teams and errors from Lone Pine was fatal.
âOur offense was good,â said baseball coach Chris Riesen, âwe just have to work on our pitching and defense. Weâre a competitive team but not an overpowering team. We canât make mistakes. We had too many walks and too many errors.â
Despite strong winds and tough terrain, the Bishop Broncos golf team came away from Desert Highâs home course with a win.
Brendon Shibley medaled with a 79, followed by Raimundo Huarte in second with an 82.
Bishopâs team score, 423, was 95 strokes below second-place Kern Valley and 101 strokes below host Desert.
âConditions were windy,â said coach Shirley Ono, âwith tough pin placements and sloping greens. Short or spinning approach shots onto the many elevated greens were unforgiving and punitive.
âThe Broncos played well and displayed smart shot-making given the conditions.â
The Bishop JV softball team took on the Lee Vining varsity Lady Tigers last Thursday in a lop-sided 0-10 loss.
âWe had to adjust our defense and offense due to injuries and illnesses,â said coach Patty Cummings. The timing couldnât have been worse as Lee Vining always fields strong teams.
âTailer Marks did a great job at shortstop as did Tiarney Andreas at catcher and Tamia Shoshone on the mound,â Cummings said.
Shoshone struck out six, had two walks; the Broncos defense committed four errors.
