For its first official, full-length theater production, the Writers Actors Guild will be staging an adaptation of one of the most popular and widely praised memoirs of the modern era.
In doing so, WAG hopes “Tuesdays with Morrie” will provide the fledgling collective with both the support and foundation needed to stage future, original productions penned by its members.

Inyo officials seek way to continue nixed state program

Inyo County’s Health and Human Services and Probation departments have joined forces to come up with the funds to continue a program that was abandoned by the state three years ago.
Health and Human Services Director Jean Turner said that despite the discontinuation of the state-funded Substance Abuse and Crime Prevention program, the county was able to continue the project through 2012 via a cooperative effort by HHS and Probation.

Supes to get preview of Friday water meeting

February 21, 2012

County leaders have scheduled a short meeting today to discuss personnel matters in the Health and Human Services Department and talk about an upcoming Inyo County-Los Angeles Department of Water and Power Standing Committee gathering.
Today’s Board of Supervisors meeting begins at 9 a.m. in the County Administrative Center in Independence.
The board will also discuss the county’s stance on Governor Jerry Brown’s “Schools and Local Public Safety Protection Act.”

Kenneth Martin Sample passed away Feb. 15, 2012, after a courageous five-year struggle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was a true gentleman who touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end.

Kenneth Glenn Partridge

A graveside service will be held at East Line Street Cemetery at 1 p.m. Wednesday for Kenneth Glenn Partridge who passed away Feb. 18, 2012. He was 96.
Kenneth was born Dec. 9, 1915 in Bishop to an Owens Valley pioneering  family. His grandparents, Philip and Rhoda Partridge, came on the Slim Princess in 1888 to settle on a ranch eight miles south of Bishop.
