Born Sept. 15, 1942 in Fort Wayne, Ind., Joy died Dec. 16, 2010 after living a fruitful and wonderful life.
It was in Fort Wayne that she attended grammar school and high school, where, in her sophomore year, she met her future husband, Richard Kizer.
Donald C. Sebastian
No funeral services have been announced for Donald C. Sebastian.
Born March 2, 1928 in Wallace, Idaho, Donald died Nov. 27, 2010 in Reno. He was 82.
Donald served in the Marine Corp. his work career was spent in the aircraft and space industry. He worked for Douglas Aircraft Co. and North American Rockwell as well as Northorp Grumman Co.
David S. Scott
A celebration of live will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 15 at the community center in Dyer, Nev. for Big Pine native David S. Scott.
Born Nov. 1, 1925 in Big Pine, David died Dec. 10, 2010 at the Bishop Care Center. He was 85.
David was a resident of Dyer for 26 years.
He and his wife Lucille were married for 64 years.
David was well loved and respected by his community.
Keeping with the City of Bishopâ€™s motto, â€ś100 Years of Service,â€ť new City Administrator Jim Southworth said he plans on making sure those services, such as public safety and infrastructure improvements, are still available through the dark financial days that lie ahead.
Southworth, who has more than 30 years of administration under his belt, said in a recent interview that he will try and maintain the economically conservative nature of the cityâ€™s administration, while recognizing room for growth and meeting generational expectations.
Self-confessed Schulman Grove Visitors Center arsonist John Thomas Christiana is preparing to serve as his own counsel in Inyo County Superior Court.
Christiana recently appealed court orders that he is incompetent to stand trial and that he be subject to involuntarily administration of anti-psychotic medication. On Dec. 10, the court rejected the first contention but reversed the order authorizing the medication. There is no word of when Christiana will be standing trial.
Manzanar National Historic Site is preparing to open a new interpretive exhibit and to conduct more interviews with former internees, camp staff and local residents.
Paying for the new features at the historic site is the Friends of Manzanar, which recently received $58,833 in grant money from the National Park Service.
According to Manzanar Chief of Interpretation Alisa Lynch, staff will utilize the grant money to review archives and find information to put on display at the newly refurbished mess hall.
A celebration of life for Kathy Yeager will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8 at the Boulder Creek RV Resort in Lone Pine.
Born Dec. 17, 1949, Kathy Yeager, 61, of Independence, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010.
Sadly, she is joined in death by her much loved sister, Beverly Reilly. Kathy was not only a great mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, but such a dear friend to so many.

A celebration of life for Beverly Reilly will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8 at the Boulder Creek RV Resort in Lone Pine.
Beverly Jean Reilly, 64, of Lone Pine, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010.
Beverly was born Dec. 21, 1946 in Pasadena and raised in the Owens Valley.
In remembrance, and as a possible inspiration for others to donate, fellow quilter and friend of the sisters Cathryn Cotler of Smith Valley, Nev. has donated a quilt to the cause. The winner of the quilt will be chosen at random from those who have donated to the Jeff and Alie McKee Family Fund. That fund is set up at The Santa Lucia Bank, P.O. Box 6047, Atascadero CA 93423. The winner of the quilt will be chosen on Jan. 31. No tickets are being sold. The quilt measures 61 inches by 61 inches and is machine-pieced and machine-quilted.
