Opposition to Trails bill comes from SoCal

A group of Southern California residents is hoping to “bury” the Eastern Sierra Adventure Trails legislation as it winds through various state Senate committees on its way to becoming law.
Introduced as AB 628 by Assemblywoman Connie Conway, the bill aims to designate a number of local county roads as dual use, allowing licensed and insured riders of green sticker off-highway vehicles to travel up to 10 miles on paved roads to reach amenities such as food and gas, and travel back out to legal OHV routes.

Inyo County turning heads at State Fair

This year’s exhibit, “Camp Inyo,” has caught the eye of fair judges, community leaders from across the state and the thousands of potential tourists who attend the annual expo.

Esther Mae Barnes was born March 17, 1922 in Osawatomie, Kan. to Lloyd and Ethel Wollen. She passed away June 28, 2011. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and teacher.
She is survived by her sister, Nancy Tinker of Visalia; brother, Linton Wollen of Merced; daughters, Alison Barnes and Leslie Troncale; granddaughter, Alyssa Coleman; and three great-grandchildren.

Lilian K. Davis
1922-2011

After a long battle with cancer, Lillian K. Davis passed away on June 27, 2011 with her two daughters by her side.
Lillian was born Nov. 19, 1922 to George and Elisabeth Kaufmann in Detroit, Mich.She graduated from Denby High School in Detroit in 1942. Lillian married her best friend LeRoy Davis on May 1, 1944. They were married 40 years.
