Donna Hardy Lake
1933-2011
A celebration of life is being planned for 6 p.m. Saturday, July 16 at Round Valley School for Donna Hardy Lake. A Facebook group has been created for remembrances at “Celebrate the Life of Donna Hardy Lake.”
Born July 17, 1933 in Torrance to Ruth McKisson and Herbert Hardy, Donna died at her home in Round Valley from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease on May 1, 2011. She was 77.
Ygnacio Fimbres
1944-2011
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Valley Presbyterian Church on West Line Street in Bishop for Ygnacio Fimbres. Funeral Services were held in Minot, N.D.
Born Jan. 24, 1944 in Bishop, Ygnacio died April 20, 2011 in Minot. He was 67.
Ygnacio was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved his family.
“He will forever be in our hearts,” the family said.

The City of Bishop wants to know how its citizens are getting around and plan on getting around in the 21st century. It is set to update its long term transportation plan and will hold an informational open house on May 12 to open the dialogue between the city and its citizens on mobility.
The Getting Around in Bishop Open House will be from 3-7 p.m. Thursday, May 12 at City Hall, 377 W. Line St.

Tim Reidâs life has been a series of ups and downs. Today, heâs in a pretty good place with his Bishop Broncos baseball team undefeated in league play and almost assured a spot in the CIF playoffs.
But, the Broncos Bullpen batting cages, a business he started last July, is in danger of closing. What he didnât figure on was the interminable slow period during the winter. Now heâs in a hole and needs help.

The Bishop Lady Broncos softball team lost a tough game, 0-8, to the Kern Valley Lady Broncs Friday.
âYou have to score to win,â said coach Stacy Van Nest. âUnfortunately, we couldnât get past second base.â
Pitcher Megan Erwin, while on the mound, got hit hard by the ball in the fourth inning, but finished the game.
The Broncos fall to 3-5 in High Desert League, 9-10 overall.
The final two league games are on the road, at Rosamond today and Desert Thursday.

The first two innings of Friday afternoonâs baseball match up between the Bishop Broncos and the Kern Valley Broncs were scary close.
Kern Valley jumped out to a 1-4 lead in the second inning. Bishop was plagued with weird errors until the third inning when the real Broncos nine took the field and a 5-4 lead.
âWe fielded 11 players Friday,â said coach Tim Reid, âand every one made a huge contribution. It was a total team effort.â

The verdict is in on murder suspect Louis LePlat. He has been found guilty of second-degree murder and found not guilty of murder in the first-degree. The state mandated sentence for the offense is 15 years to life. LePalt will be sentenced at 8:30 a.m. on May 27 in Ventura.
Case information from Ventura County Superior Court states the jury was reportedly âhungâ on the first-degree murder charge the day before finding LePlat guilty of second-degree murder on April 29.

Its been a long time coming, but finally, some of the victims of day care provider Guadalupe Almaguer know what power â and justice â feel like.
Last Tuesday, Mono County Superior Court Judge Mark Magit sentenced former Mammoth day care provider âLupeâ Almaguer, 58, to 60- years to life in prison, following his arrest in early October 2010 on suspicion of child sexual abuse.

Born July 30, 1926 in Corning, New York, Paul died of congestive heart failure with his family by his side Sunday, April 24, 2011 in Sacramento. He was 84.,
Harold ‘Hal’ W. Johnson
1919-2011
Memorial services were held Friday at the First Presbyterian Church in Bishop for Harold “Hal” W. Johnson.
Born Dec. 16, 1919 in Mt. Vernon, Mo. to Fred and Helen Johnson, the second of ten children, Harold died Wednesday, April 27, 2010 in Bishop. He was 91.
